Seems the MPAA is really heating up the war.

Allegedly they filed up to 50,000 john doe cases recently.

That is more than the RIAA has filed in total to date.

Make sure you use Peer Guardian if you continue to download movies and that does not make you remotely close to safe, but it is better than nothing.

I've been getting more stuff off of rapidshare and the likes than I have torrents anyway.

i wonder hwo long it will be until they try to go after people who stream

i've never downloaded a movie before (i have downloaded simpsons and south park episodes, but stopped years ago). i haven't illegally downloaded songs in years either

i do occasionally stream tv shows online that aren't found on the network sites

also, i wonder how long the porn industry waits until they try to hit downloaders

The porn industry still makes way more than Hollywood.

They already have. They constantly shut down sites with streaming links.

My favorite site is down today. I am praying quicksilverscreen was not nailed.

They also sued YouTube although I think they lose that suit.

I could see them going after people that upload stuff to streaming sites, but individuals that watch streaming content have more of an argument that they did nothing wrong than a person dloading a torrent.

I used to use a program or two to mask my torrent downloading. Then one day my internet provider called my house and said, "You need to stop downloading this movie. Consider this your one warning." Ever since then I have been hesitant.

Well you are right Jersey.

WW Hollywood Revenue is at about 30+ billion whereas porn is 12 to 14 billion.

SFP

with a torrent you essentially commit 10s to 1000s of copyright violations since you upload as you download.

With streaming, you at most create 1 new copy. Some sites and movie players don't even create 1 copy on your computer.

It is MUCH harder to prove damages with streaming than torrents which is why they have stayed away from it to this point.

simple: find private tracker

Make sure you use Peer Guardian

waste of time & effort. honestly you think the MPAA is publishing the IP addresses they're using so these guys can add it to the blacklist?

hypothetically speaking, i might know a guy who has been on several good movie trackers for years and years and seeding hundreds of torrents and comcast has never even so much as sniffed him out.

my advice:

- use random port (not the default torrent port..thats an easy win for comcast/isp)
- use private tracker
- if you *do* grab some shite off pirate bay or some crappy public tracker, as soon as its download remove that shite from seeding.

comcast and the mpaa/riaa take the path of least resistance..there are so many of you suckers grabbing stuff over open torrent sites, why bother trying to infiltrate the little private trackers? they can toss their crab traps in the ocean and come back full from now til doomesday with you guys doing this in full sight.

oh and btw, allan evans was found INNOCENT of all charges so dont use oink as an example of a private tracker being shutdown.it just reappeared bigger and better a year later anyway.

The only "movie" stuff I download are television shows that I may have missed the night before. Does that make me a criminal worth thousands of dollars to apprehend?

If they ever busted into my house they would see I do plently to support the movie industry. I own around 600-700 DVDs.

Demonoid, Pirate Bay, Supernova etc don't use, and don't just google the torrent either.

Torrent Damage, Torrentleech, TorrentBytes are the 3 main ones i use. Filepost isnt bad either, tho was better when it was Filelist.
