didn't make the U.S. Open

I happened to run across him yesterday at the qualifier, super nice guy. He signed every autograph for the hundred or so Cowboy fans that went out to watch him play. I didn't care to meet him though

Wasn't John Smoltz trying to qualify as well?

he may have tried to make it at local qualifying and didn't advance, but this stage was the final stage you need to get through to get to the U.S. Open

I wouldn't say Romo choked, pretty hard to choke when you are playing for 2 spots and there are at least 4 pga tour players there playing for the same spots

Also, did you see the columbus qualifer?? Sick field and only 12 or so spots ... WTF ??? The USGA fumbled that on - IMHO ...

No he didn't make it

I saw that...that field was ridiculous, lots of big names made it there and a lot didn't

I saw a former SELA player made it at Columbus though

It's ridiculous, too, that after battling against one of the toughest fields on tour for four days, you have to go out the very next day to qualify for the Open. Both Rose and Fowler were probably just exhausted, and they both had to qualify. Neither made it.

TOTALLY AGREE. But that's how the USGA likes it, they like to grind you and test you and make you miserable....its their M.O.

As for Tony Homo, he didn't even play in the sectional. It was rained out until Tuesday - he had Cowboy practice - and therefore WD from the tourney this week

he got through most of it. shot 71 in the first round but was sucking it up in the second.

basically everyone who wasn't close to making it withdrew because of other obligations this week
