Freeze-drying the oil on the beach and then rolling it up? This guy is already in touch with BP and the plant is located 3 miles from Grand Isle.

Sounds like it would take a shite load of manpower to make something like this happen.

It would take a lot of manpower and BP is reluctant to even provide a small amount of workebable workers. They seem content on paying prison work release guys $12/hr to make it look like they are cleaning up.

Hell, if BP signs on, have them pay the fishermen to work the plan. Win-win all around and no taxpayer money spent. And it looked like it worked pretty well in the video. I know you would need a shitload of that stuff and I'm wondering if you could mass-produce enough to be effective. And would it work out in deeper water?

I saw it yesterday when CNN aired it live and it didn't appear to be that effective. BP should give it to their work release crew. That would give them something to do rather than standing around.

the ratio to dry ice to oil is greater than 1
(that is, they drop more dry ice on the oil than there is oil itself)

BP's problem here is that if they pay a little bit of money all along, they lose their leverage in the end when they try to reach some type of final settlement.
It might be easier to settle it for $50,000 total in 8 months, but if they pay a little bit all along and at the end they say we will pay you $5,000 now to settle and you have already received $45,000 from us so you have $50,000 people are much less likely to settle.
Its why liability insurer's dont generally pay on 3rd party liability claims until the end. The reason being if you pay all along, you are not only financing the claim, but you lose the leverage you have at the end to settle based on a larger lump sum payment.

BP is paying 50Million in PR ads saying they care greatly for the fisherman who lost their jobs. Seems hypocritical to me, meanwhile they are paying $12/hr to prison work release guys to show up on a beach to huddle underneath tents and smoke and joke around all day.

Oh I agreem man. Its not right.
But these companies have risk control plans. They want to reduce the size of losses that occur. The Public Relations plan is meant to stablilize their public perception and stock interests.
The are gonna do all they can to minimize these claims. Its certainly not right, but its gonna make a lot of defense and corporate law firms rich.

Wont help much at all and will only make matters worse. They have lied and decieved the american public since the very beginning.
