I think it's just that PM has no faith in him and maybe ott hasn't exactly put forth the best effort to fix his issues

Word is that all of his pitches are laser beam flat these days, and until he gets the movement back on his pitches, both fastball and slider, we won't be seeing him on the mound for the Tigers.
