how long do the feds give bp to fix this problem?

Feds continue to complain about getting lied to but do nothing about it but continue complaining. Meanwhile, BP continues to tell us they are doing what they can but there is little to no progress. If anything, things have taken a step back (see the insertion tube taking up less oil than yesterday). When do the feds take over, fix this issue and bill BP? One more week? Another month? Indefinitely?

The Feds don't have the expertise to handle this problem.

Take over and what?
This isnt some water leak in the kitchen dude. If the feds could stop it they would but they are helpless and are relying on BP to fix the problem lke the rest of us.

Ive been saying this for over 3 weeks now, but most of the responses you get on this board is the same as above: "The feds aren't experienced in this type of disaster." What needs to happen is to get every organization available (including non-contracted BP entities) to fix not only the leak, but the clean up. Use BP's resources and equipment and every fricking cent they have.

This. There has to be someone on this earth that knows how to fix this problem. It has been more than a MONTH. It is getting absurd to to tell you the truth. There has been no progress at all in a month. Ridiculous.

And the oil cleanup has just began and arriving on beaches and coastal marshes.

If they want to drill as these depths they sure as hell should of had a plan ready and various fixes.

BP is losing millions by the day. I'm pretty sure thay they're doing everything possible to get it under control.
But hey...let's put the feds in control of it. They're known for their lightning-fast speed at handling stuff.

I can give a rats arse what BP is losing. They have caused a tremendous amount of damage. I'm against suing and legal action in general but damn I really hope they get it handed to them.
Not just a 10 Billion bill, I'm talking 100 Billion and that may sting a little bit.

quote:Thing is, the Feds have connections that go far beyond BP's skill set. And since BP's skill set doesn't seem to be very potent, I'm wondering why the Feds aren't in front of the problem working their connections in the oil industry around the world, instead of sitting on their hands and whining that BP hasn't been real honest about things... Cause meanwhile the Gulf of Mexico and all that live around it and in it are getting the snot beaten out of them by this spilled oil.

U.S. government slams BP for missed deadlines on spill
quote:
VENICE, La/HOUSTON (Reuters) – The U.S. government threatened on Sunday to remove BP from efforts to seal a blown-out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico if it doesn't do enough to stop the leak, though it acknowledged only the company and the oil industry have the know-how to halt the deepwater spill.
quote:
"I am angry and I am frustrated that BP has been unable to stop this oil from leaking and to stop the pollution from spreading. We are 33 days into this effort and deadline after deadline has been missed," Salazar said after visiting BP's U.S. headquarters in Houston on Sunday.
"If we find they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing, we'll push them out of the way appropriately," he told reporters as the administration maintained its hard line.

Thanks for posting the article. Hopefully it wont be removed. Glad to see something a little different than the BP sunshine brigade.

Not the whole article, just a few interesting quotes. I heard the guys interview on TV a while ago. Sorta sounded like saber rattling to be honest. Hope its not.

Oh, I totally agree. But that still doesn't mean there's a quick fix like the OP seems to think.
BTW, the feds didn't exactly do a great job making sure BP had a good plan either.

if they did take over the incident command, i wonder what that would do to the planning and execution of the relief wells -- since there's a large # of BP personnel involved in it? i assume they would just take over, order everyone to keep working, then send BP the bill.

True, they knew there was corruption between MMS and Big Oil but after this incident they didnt realize it was this bad. They made immediate changes though.

you talking about that stuff in the Rocky Mountain Region? or something specific in New Orleans? not flaming, i'm just not aware of anything of that nature being made public beyond the Denver office stuff.

I don't know about Denver, but I think it's pretty funny how people seem to think the feds will hop right onto taking charge of an ongoing disaster with great efficiency (like FEMA did with Katrina
) when they were supposed to be on top of contingency plans.

I was going to post the same thing. Again, the federal government is useless. They have the ability to tell BP to stick it and to go ahead and do what needs to be done to stop the oil from leaking and start the cleanup process. If they wait on BP, this will never end. It is time people begin to get arrested.
