No shite! Hopefully they can pull a rabbit out of their other hat now.

I wish that there was someone on The Enterprise drill ship who could post here and give real time updates.

This is a post from Louisiana Sportsman Field Reporter

quote:

BP tried to capture some of the flow of oil Friday night but ran into trouble when something shifted and they had to retrieve the insertion tube to make modifications. BP was a bit vague on what exactly went wrong.

Saturday night BP was successful in getting the insertion tube inserted into the pipe but it late came out. Possibly due to pressure build up in the riser??? Or possibly due to the insertion tube acting like a jet nozzle when the gas under tremendous pressure from the depth expanded in the tube leading to the drill ship??? Both of those explanations are just my thoughts.

The tube has since be reinserted but I do not have word if recovery efforts have been successful. Last night some fo the oil was captured and the gas flared.

The ship is basically a floating oil rig. The gas will be flared like some rigs regularly do and the oil will be collected in the ships holds. Hope to hear good news soon.

In any event its sound like they are making progress.

Since we really dont know how much oil is coming out of the leaks and they say this will have a 75% capture rate........I'm just gonna take that to mean most of it.

I haven't heard anything lately about the relief well. Has that been shite canned or ongoing?

Maybe we will get a real sense of how much was being pumped out now. I'm very interested in that.

also

Now let's plug that thing.

Any idea how much they are capturing? 10%, 90%?

They say the 4 inch pipe they inserted will capture up to 75% of the oil. I find that hard to believe but that is what BP has said.

Two relief wells are being drilled simultaneously. The progress is good and slightly ahead of schedule.
