shrimping in Lake Ponchatrain

So why did they close shrimping? was it a fear of the shrimp coming through the gulf into the lake?

I also heard they may close fishing in the lake to avoid over fishing???? I mean WTF!!!

Where did you hear this? It really doesn't make much sense, it isn't like the lake is a closed system.

hearsay from a fisherman I know. Nothing more than that. I would have no idea why they would want to close it just to stop over fishing if that was the main premise.

Glad to see that is what it is about and not due to fear over oil. I was assuming they were worried about shrimp coming in from the gulf through the oil and into the Lake.
