How Did LSU Football Become an Afterthought

in such a short amount of time? One can argue a couple of inexperienced QB's were thrown into the fire too soon. One can also argue a bad decision in hiring Malleveto.
It seems to me a few slip ups and missteps has snowballed into a mediocre reputation nationwide. I really hope not, but I think something more embarrasing than the Ole Miss clock situation is on the horizon for 2010.
I hope my feelings do not classify me as a Negatiger.

if you're feelings aren't to love Les Miles devotedly, say "hey, guys! LSU is gonna win the west in 2010! WOOOO HOOOO!", and/or "Miles won 51 games in the past, so there's absolutely NOTHING to worry about in the future....and he has ABSOLUTELY NO resemblance to Larry Coker WHATSOEVER!", then you're not a true fan and are a negatiger.

We've consistently lost 1 to 2 games more than we should every year. since 2006. We've been in almost all games (except maybe FL in 08) but moral victories are for Ole Miss, not LSU.

with the talent Miles is bringing in (yes, credit to him), LSU will always be "in" games. it's the little things coaches do to take them to the next level.

Agreed. Which is why I would be ok with Miles leaving. LSU has enough talent where a change in coaching can yield immediate results like what happened at Florida.

well, we were never looked at as a great program by the espn people. It doesn't help that reece, lou, and mark may always seem to have some smart remark against les. and the one down season in 08 kinda took us back, tough season last year.
It doesn't matter, i think the polls do still respect us, and the bcs will always respect a one or two loss sec school, so we'll be fine.
doesn't really matter who respects us, we need to win our games, the polls will take care of the rest.

If Perrilloux doesn't screw up, we're not having this conversation.

+1/2
This would just have temporarily masked Miles' blunders. Miles could possibly have 2 NC's, and the bleeding would be starting now.

This is flat out not true

LSU was in every game that they lost last season.
Alabama was two blocked field goals away from losing to Tennessee. They barley beat Auburn.
Luck plays a factor. The line between division champs and 2nd place is very, very thin.

This is the correct answer.

I dunno. I think some of this is going to even out for us soon. We've been taking it on the chin for the last two years... whatever can go wrong, has. The ball is going to bounce our way a little more, I believe.
But I still don't see us beating Bama or Florida. We're not BAD. They're just BETTER.

As I recall we consistenlt lost 1 to 2 games more than we should have even under Saban.
That being said, the Ole Miss debacle last year was unexcusable, and he may not be the right coach for LSU.

If Miles had more discipline of the team this doesn't become a problem.
