its not the feds. read the post again. the person speaking is a Louisiana employee.

We have enough adolescents. go ahead. eat some contaminated fish. Remember the sea turtles? They are already dead.
how many contaminants did they have to eat before they all died?
Good bye Cosmo.

How about the fact that sea turtles die in mass around this time every year? There is no evidence to support the claim that they were killed by contamination.

whoa there!!! you hyperbolic freak... if the oil was killing turtles you would have much more than a few tortoises washing ashore.

The ldwf guy doesn't make any sense... I bet there's more danger of contaminated fish at Joe's Landing on a Saturday morning than what there will ever be in Breton Sound/ Lake Borgne from this spill...

FWIW

I believe the emergency shrimp season was just part of an overall knee jerk reaction. My guess is the shrimpers in a rush to get all they could probably killed the Turtles.

i bet the shrimp that they did catch were small since the seasons are set by shrimp size taken from test trawls done by dept of wildlife and fisheries.

Well look at the bright side the fishing will be outstanding when it's allowed to start back up. I wish I lived closer.....

So what is your field of expertise?

common sense.
As long as it stays a light sheen on top of the water in the GoM there shouldn't be much health concern to the eating of any fish caught today.

today I would eat trout caught on the east side of Breton Island before I'd eat any fish caught out of the Mississippi River north of Plaquemine Parish...
