I wouldn't mind staying in Venice or DuLac for a couple weeks this summer and helping out.

If you have specific skills such as SCUBA, vet or vet assistant, biologist, medical professional, mechanic, heavy machine operator or boat captain, and want to volunteer to help with marine wildlife affected by the oil spill, please email: contactus@imms.org, and provide the following: first and last name, address, cell number, ability to recieve text message, email, proximity to Gulfport.

Talked to a guy today who works for Shaw. He said they are probably going to be one of the main players in the clean-up effort. Said that he thinks they will initially be hiring 1500 to help with clean-up and that more may be added later. He said they don't offically have the contract yet, but they will be anticipating in over the next couple of days to weeks.

There are companies that do this for a living so please do not volunteer for free.

So people who care about our coastal waterways should not volunteer of their own will because that is a "chump" thing to do? They should instead fill out a job application with some sort of government emergency team and wait for 6 months for them to be processed as a qualifying individual so they can get payed instead of being a "sucka" and acting as a good samaritan?

God bless America
