The problem with the baseball team

I have said this before, there is an answer for the slump the baseball team is in:
This team is dead tired! They played 9 games in 12 days. They played 14 innings in one of those games. They played an 9 hour double header and 11 innings in one of those games. They traveled to Shreveport and back and Oxford and back. They need rest.

They're in a minor slump. It's happened to practically every baseball team we've ever fielded.

Baseball America and rivals will be tearing them down, wait till postseason, this team will be back in Omaha even if they have to go on road.

If we were talking about guys in their 30s i'd agree, but not teenagers and guys in their early 20s. It just doesn't sound like a good excuse. It might be a small factor, but I think its alot of things. Long season, it starts to get to some of the younger guys not used to playing as much, couple injuries, bad luck, mediocre pitching.

I would disagree and say the opposite....
Guys in there 30s don't get as tired b/c there bodies are trained to last for these types of trips.... Plus, its a job they get paid a shite ton of money for and they travel much better than college teams do. 18-23yr old guys have only played a college type season for a year or 2 if any at all.... There bodies are not used to that hard of a grind on a daily basis....

the freshmen have this excuse, but not so much the soph's, juniors, and seniors

A rough travel schedule does not explain the season ERA of 5.11. ERA is over 6 in SEC only.

I would say you would need to go with at least a junior and thats only if they have played full time for 2yrs or at least platooned with someone... Its tough on the body.
Did you play in college?

I agree. Like you, I am not writing us off yet. BUT, you need to look no further than the ERA to see what is "wrong" with the team. If AR can get his shite together, we still have a good shot.

Yea, the big leaguers who are used to that type of strain on the body and have nothing else to worry about but BASEBALL
Posted on 4/28/10 at 11:41 am to lsutigerfan58
pretty sure an lsu athlete dosent have to worry about school.
Posted on 4/28/10 at 11:43 am to NattyLite
also the starters in the show pitch every 5 days, college every 7.
Posted on 4/28/10 at 11:43 am to NattyLite
Yea ok maybe on the football and basketball team, but baseball players are usually pretty damn smart
Posted on 4/28/10 at 11:45 am to lsutigerfan58
not questioning weather they are smart or not they still dont have to worry about school
Posted on 4/28/10 at 11:47 am to NattyLite
But they do worry about school, Mainieri makes sure of that.
Ross for example is a petroleum engineering major and is on the SEC academic honor roll

Not only that, but they also have 4-game losing streaks.
