Why is everyone so stuck on the idea that you have to be a pocket passer to succeed in the NFL?
because it's been made clear after the Vick, VY, Alex Smith, etc. experiments of the last 15 years. The NFL is protecting QB's more and more, and pocket passers are leading the successful teams.

They drafted him in the first round to play QB..nuff said.
If he ends up as a Tight End,Fullback or Wildcat QB he's a bust.

Chad,
I'm with you on this one. Lester refuses to accept that Denver wants him to be the future QB all the while he can contribute on short yardage situations during his development.
If you think he can't play QB ever in the NFL, fine. But to just completely disregard the possibility of success that it could happen is just dumb.
I will take Denver's analysis on him over what Lester thinks of him.
I don't know what the "bust" percentage is for first rounders in the NFL, but by no means is Tebow any more likely or less likely to be a bust than any other QB pick.
Lienert, Quinn, JR, Alex Smith, Joey Harrington, Tim Couch, Cade McNown, Kerry Collins, and on and on and on can all be considered busted picks from the 1st round. Tebow can easily be in this group when all is said and done. But he can easily be way better than all these guys too.

My sole argument this whole time.
But I guess LE knows better than Denver.

Good Post.
Also, who do you think would win the mirror competition in the locker room? And how do you think Tebow the Christian will handle Quinn's homosexuality?

I don't see how this does not compute. Not only did they use the 25th pick in the draft but they gave away a second and a third and some spots in the fourth. Because of this Tebow will be a bust of epic proportions. Esentially they wasted three pics for Tebow.
The last person on a football field you want taking hits is your franchise QB. So why in the hell would you use tebow in short yard situations? I have an origianll idea, use the running back or fullback who's main purpose on the team is to gain yards on the ground.
However I did read that the Broncos released there team minister late last night due to Tebow's addition. Just another job for the tiredless Tim Tebow.

This statement never gets old
You don't draft a "project" or a guy with a "great motor" in the first fricking round. It's common sense.
Also lets not even trying to compare Tebow to Young. Because Young will eat him alive in the pros.

Also, everyone needs to get off VY's nuts.
He showed last year in several games he has the ability to completely take over a game and carry the team to a win.
We are very excited about him this year. SO what if he doesn't have all these great stats like pure passers, he wills his team to win, he gets his team motivated, and he can extend a drive as well as any pure passer in the game.
Our running game is 100x's better when he is under center. He proved that his rookie year, second year, and last year. I have personally witnessed teams' defensive philosophy change when he was in the game compared to when Kerry was in the game.

I thought i heard on the radio that they essentially only gave up a 3rd rounder. They used some of the picks that they got from trading down.

They had a chance to get Dez Bryant or Clausen and went with a REACH by getting Tebow.

I don't know how you can say that. They actually gave up the 43rd, 70th and 114th picks in the draft. Now yes they did trade down to get those picks but that does not negate the fact they belonged to the Broncos at the time of the trade.

I didn't say that. Adam Schefter said that and i was just repeating it.

i'm sure it's not that far off from the draft pick value chart that everybody uses. and i think people overrate the expected value of the #25 pick in the draft.

you don't even have to be a pure pocket passer to make it work... but over the long haul IMO the key is you are looking to pass first and run as last option.... guys like young, brees, mcnabb, roethlesberger would move out of the pocket but kill defenses by making completions out of the pocket

Pretty easy to prove a point when you make whatever you want up.
So the 25th pick in the draft has very little value. You can only get a second , and a third and a fourth round draft pick.
I suggest you do a history lesson and see how many All Pro football players were drafted in those rounds.
