Is paying for a washer with steam cleaning option worth it?
We have the steam washer and dryer. We rarely use the steam wash, as it is used to get deep stains out. Once we have children, I'm sure it will come in handy with grass stains, etc. As for the dryer, at the time we bought ours Whirlpool was the only brand that had a direct water line for the steam cycle. All other brands had a reservoir that must be filled for the steam cycle. The unit came with a Y connector for running a line to both the washer and dryer. We can run the steam dry cycle without even thinking about the water. We use the steam dry cycle quite a bit on clothes, it is good for a quick touch up on wrinkles.

This has to be the biggest ripoff I've ever seen. They intentionally make the machines too short for any normal person so that they can charge you extra to get them up to working height.
I totally agree, we don't even have anything stored in the pedestals, they are strictly for height. They know you have to buy them, so they jack the price up. I cannot see anything in their construction that makes them worth $200 each.
