Ryan Leaf went #2 behind Peyton Manning.

Didn't Carter suffer a major knee injury and was basically hampered by it his entire career? I don't really constitute that as being a bad pick. Just an unlucky one.

Unlucky or not, I'm pretty sure Cincinnati didn't look at it as being a "great" pick. Injuries in sports are always part of the equation, and so are equally part of the inherent risk in drafting players.

Total Cash Committed

2007-$2.976M
2008-$20.27M
2009-$13.105M
2010-$3M*

* Guaranteed, even if released
What did almost $40M buy the Raiders?

So far, Russell has appeared in 29 games, has been sacked 67 times for 444yds,has average yd per attempt of 6.0 and a passer ratingof 65.0. His stats in all categories rank near the bottom in each year in the NFL.

Yes, but at least he's playing. Ki-Jana Carter started 14 games total in 7 years in the league. 2 games started per year for the #1 overall--that's epic bad.

Tim Couch....

JR may be on his way, but you have to give him some time to see how he works out.

But you have to agree that being lazy and not wanting to utilize your talent is COMPLETELY different than an injury that you couldn't help. Jamarcus can play well if he puts his mind to it. Carter just couldn't after that injury due to physical limitations.

Cant teach work ethic and ability to care.

He has neither and it looks like he will never have the will to have either.
