Someone told me this scenario was just mentioned on Lafayette Sports radio (obviously not the most reliable source). In case you didn't know, Trent played ball at Boise State. Has anyone else heard this? I'm assuming there would be a lot more smoke if there was any validity to this rumor....

Didn't hear anything about it but that would have to be the dumbest decision of his career. I just can't see the man making a choice like that.

Yes, Boise is a step up from the SEC and LSU.

Agreed, it sounds absurd with the exception that he played ball there and he's from that region. I don't see this happening but stranger things have happened....

If the money is right and he thinks he can win at Boise, it could be attractive, especially with the success of football out there recently that school does have some sparkle to it...

Although I don't know much about Boise's financial situation, I don't see how they could outlast LSU in a bidding war. Boise would have two things going for them: 1- Trent went to school there 2- less pressure than a job like LSU. Still, I just don't see how this could happen...

Chris Peterson (Boise fb coach) annual base salary: $1.1 mill

Trent Johnson annual base salary: $1.2 mill

Bingo, this move certainly wouldn't be about the money. Besides, I just don't see TJ jumping ship right in the middle of the rebuilding process. He has a great class on the way, and I'm going to say this is simply a RUMOR. I'm pretty sure another media market besides Lafayette would have picked up on this first if there was any truth to it.

i dont think Trent is one to shy away from pressure. Plus i think this was started by someone from ESPN who said something without any support just guessing that it would be a possibility

I don't remember. It was on one of the boards other than the rant the other day. I'm trying to find it

Let's also remember why Trent left Stanford in the first place. It doesn't seem like he's ready for a low-key retirement job right now. He made the move to have the resources and recruiting base to win big.

No doubt, unless he absolutely hates Baton Rouge (which I don't think is the case), he's not going to take a step down on the career ladder. LSU has the facilities and recruiting base to do big things if he can get the ball rolling.

Trent came to LSU to win national championships. If he wanted to win a conference and go to the sweet 16 he could have stayed at Stanford. He is smart enough to know Boise St is never winning a NC.

Heard this a couple of weeks ago from a friend who is an assistant coach, since then have heard it from couple of other coaches, saw it on an espn site, i think it was andy katz. who knows, he has some ties there, we shall see. I do know there have been communications between the two of them, i have ended every one of my post lately with...Boise State.
