How did it come to be that we suck so bad at basketball?

we went to the tourney and lost in second round last season in toughest game for eventual champion UNC

we lost 4 starters off that team and most of the playing time

hope that helps

That much I know. I guess the real question is how it came to pass that we didn't have reasonably talented newcomers?

It sucks that we dont have 15 scholarships for our team. It seems like we only have 10 or so.

This season kinda suprised me too. Even with newbs I thought we could at least win 5 conference games.

Rex,

Its just one season. Next year's signed recruits are impressive.

No team is great every year. Look at UNC. They stink too.

And with great freshmen next year, they may make freshmen mistakes.

Trent could have If I'm not mistaken given 3-4 scholarships after last year. He chose only to use two feeling that the coming year provided more talent that we had a better shot at getting.

Not totally on board with the sacraficing a year. I don't think it had to be this bad to build a solid foundation.

I do think he probably could have gotten better players than the three schollie players he is responsible for without sacraficing APR responsibilities and all the other rationalizations I hear.

But that's water under the bridge now. He's stated this is being done to prevent inconsistency in the future.

So we better start seeing significant improvement starting next year and sustained improvement after that, cause that's what we've been told was the reason this year was so bad...to insure the future.

Accountability comes next.

IMO

1) Local Talent
2) Blowing our chance to build something after final 4.
3) Relevence around LSU and surronding area's
4) Football school label
5) CONSISTENCY!! going worst to first and back and forth in a below average conference amounts to being like SMU in college football.

But, I do beleive TJ will have it completely turned around in 2 or 3 years

Definitely true, but I also think the SEC has been an awesome basketball conference until the last 2 years or so.

I never could figure out why TJ when he got the job didn't hit the ground running on recruiting, he didn't and didn't sign anyone, then in his second year he signs three kids, two of which are not sec caliber players, you can not take one year much less two years off from recruiting. So here we are in his third year and he is bringing in his first recruiting class, that's unheard of. The class we have coming in is a good class but not great. It is hard to compete with true freshman in D-1 bb, unless you are bringin in a couple of McDonald's All Americans which none of these kids are. I think we will win more games next year but not many. Leadership will be a real issue next year....Boise State.

Rex quit trying to be naive.
We have way too many Democrats on the team to consistently win. You should have picked up on that.

Is it the answer of the question: Why J. Brady was a big failure at LSU???
