There's something about the way he says "crawfish shuffle" that doesn't sit well with me.

There's a reason why the guy's a part of the Alex Box lore and it's because he's one of the best in the business whether that totally translates to radio or not

no shite .. i will take franques every day of the week and twice on sunday over ford .. all i can figure about ford is that he works for little or no money at all .. otherwise, why he would be allowed on a major college broadcast amazes me .. at least blanton took up a lot of ford's airtime this season ... ford sorta nudged his way into being hawthornes color man ... yeah, i want to hear my hoops strategy from a short fat dude that didn't play organized basketball since the third grade ...

and it is EL-ESH-YOU ... not EW-WESH-WOO, kevin ..

I made the painful mistake of flipping through the radio on a Thursday afternoon, and caught his 1 hour infomercial on Bowie Outfitters. Someone needs to pull him aside and instruct him on the basics of radio broadcasting. I'd take Kent Lowe any day of the week and twice on weekends over Ford.

Franques' monotone is not well suited to radio; that's the only time I don't like to listen to him. As a PA announcer, I wouldn't trade him for anybody. Aaaand...he's a walking, talking LSU baseball encyclopedia. If he doesn't have a certain fact on top of his head, he knows where to find it.

I'll never forget his post game wrap up at one of LSU's regionals in the 90's. We had just beaten Long Beach State in an elimination game and he was most gracious to them by being very compimentary to them for having played a great game and for having a great season. He showed much class and it made me be proud to be a Tiger.

Better than some of the PAs at other sporting events that sound like they are lisping.
