I haven't been. But, I thought they weren't brewing anything in that place.

I love that place. If the weather wasn't so shitty in the winter I'd live there. Its Austin on steroids. If you can time it right, I'd hit the Brewers Fest at the end of July. LINK Its way better....more laid back and cheaper than the Great American Fest in Denver.

Here is my 2 cents of most brewery tasting rooms. They have zero atmosphere and remind me of a suburban mall bar.

Here are the ones I think have more character:
Rogue
Luck Labrador
Laurelwood (good food too)
McMennamans (sp) has good character (they have several pubs and have renovated old buildings for all of their pubs) but I'm not a big fan of their beers .
Hopworks

Some brew pubs I didn't like the atmosphere:
Deschutes
Full Sail

But you can go into any bar and have a giant selection of beers you've never heard of. I prefer doing this since you get more variety than going to a specific brewers place. Hawthorne Street has some good pubs.

ETA; you need to go to the strip bars in Portland. They are way different than here. They are laid back, no or low cover, $1 a dance to sit at the stage front tables, Reasobaly priced beer and drinks, 30%-40% regular girls hanging out w/ friends in the crowd, Suicide girl style dancers. Sassy's is my favorite and Union Jacks is good....although I heard its gone downhill recently.

LA has some very shitty laws in regards to brewing on premises and distribution. These are the major hurdles for microbrews and a big reason there are only a handful in the state.
