SLU (11-1) ranked #26 by Collegiate Baseball!
Roar, Lion, Roar.

How can Rice be 9 in one poll and not listed in the other? Or am I missing something?

Done independently. Some see them as worthy, others don't.

Baseball America really, REALLY doesn't like giving much credence to early season games. They are quite stubborn about their preseason rankings, and thus don't care as much about Rice's 7-5 start ( RPI = #53).
In part, this is because Baseball America is not devoted solely to the college game, and their concentration has historically been about reporting on individual talent. Collegiate Baseball, on the other hand, is all about the college game in and of itself.
That's why many people prefer the coaches' poll (done by ESPN/USA Today) or the NCBWA poll, which is the closest to the AP poll for football.

Also, Rice is on a 7-2 tear since dropping their first 3 games of the season on the road at Stanford. To be fair to both polls, it really is quite subjective how much you weigh a season-opening trip on the road at a historical national power. Also, the fact that Rice is now a national baseball power also plays a subjective role.

How can Virginia remain the #1 team in Baseball America's poll after a loss to Wright State? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I also think that Baseball America ranking FSU #5 is sort of ridiculous. Jokes about FSU collapsing in the CWS aside, what the Noles did to UF & UGA last week/weekend was just nasty.

+1 Great points. It's not just that they're winning. They had Florida 10-1 after 8 and that was there closest game all year (10-5)

Rice lost a series to Texas over the weekend 2 games to 1. In the USA Toay poll, Texas falls one spot from 5th to 6th, and Rice gains a spot to 19th. Go figure. Rice's overall record is 7-5.

It was the houston college classic.
Texas went 2-1 (lost to Houston, beat Rice and Mizzu)
