I wish LSU would play in this event. There are alot of LSU fans in Houston and alot of LSU baseball fans. It's played in Minute Maid and Tiger fans would fill it up.

That would be pretty cool. It would be nice to see LSU for a change play someone worth a shite before SEC play.

i asked uncle drayton this question about 4 years ago and he said he would like to have LSU play 'down the road'. i'd put it at the same odds of him selling the astros at this point. it's always set up for Rice domination. (20-7 HCC record) Texas in 5 appearances is 7-8.

Fullerton comes in next year.

It makes no sense for LSU to give up 3 home games (10k+ tickets, 20 suites, etc.) to send 50 people anywhere (transportation, hotel, food, etc.) for 4 days.

So it's OK for Fullerton to come to BR, for Stanford to go to Austin, for Texas to go to Houston for three games, etc, but LSU should never go on the road for a non-conference series?

It's all about the $$$$$. LSU has a state of the art stadium and doesn't need to go to Houston and spend money when we can make money in Baton Rouge. LSU is college baseball, people want to come to baton rouge and play in the box.

I can understand that. But one road OOC series a year (especially a tournament format like the one in Houston) can't be all bad. And it's not like the teams I named that do travel are a bunch of scrubs.

You are right. It would be fun to see LSU play in a big park, but LSU will not do it in the near future because they are raking in the big $ at Alex box.

and how does that help LSU's exposure and recruiting? the original post was right on...one out of every 5 college shirts you see here speak of the Tiger Nation. LSU...UT...RICE...texas am would be awesome and would fill 'EXRON' stadium.

Would love to see it as well. Maybe we can get the LSU Alumni groups (that's right Houston has more than one!) to petition Uncle Drayton?

Back in the day they had the Winn Dixie Showdown in the Dome. That was cool- we always whipped arse in that. Minute Maid!!???- hell, get a team that can win there first before you try to poison our team by having them play there- not a good stadium-cheaply maid- new Yankee Stadiium- is the shizzle!!

It has nothing to do with them asking us. They've asked LSU in the past. But we are required to play a minimum number of home games (36 is the number I think) to help pay for the stadium that makes it very difficult to play a non-conference weekend on the road. We're lucky that we're getting Fullerton in here next year because they aren't asking for a return trip.

A couple of years ago, Rice played Vanderbilt, UCLA, and TAMU over the weekend. (ETA: There were 4 or 5 of the Top 10 or 15 teams in the country at the tourney that year I believe). They faced David Price in the first game when he was far and away the best pitcher in the country.

What would be the point to set up the tourney for Rice when UT, TAMU, and UH routinely draw thousands more fans to the tournament?
