So why does Bob always wait so long to move Landon/Clint forward?

I think he's skeptical about it for whatever reason, he wants to think we can find another forward with Jozy so we can keep our midfield strong. When Davies is healthy, our attack is pretty impressive.

I don't like putting Landon up top either (for the most part). It takes away some of his ability to put in passes to our forwards up top. His greatest strength is his ability to get other players opportunities IMO.

I will say putting him up top if we're down to get a spark is an option, just don't think he should start out up top.

Dempsey on the other hand, I wouldn't midn at all if he started out up top.

Obviously with Davies back, moot point.

That makes sense, but it just seems like a stretch to think that Davies will be match-ready in June.

On reflection, I'm not quite as disappointed now as I was last night. It made sense to give Findley a shot starting on a big stage. If we see him again this rotation, then Bob really is clueless.

I'm just a soccer-watcher and only became a fan in the last few years, so this question might show my ignorance. Why don't we ever try something with 3 dedicated midfielders, Clint and Landon drifting back and forth, and then Jozy up top? Is 4-4-2 just set in stone or something?
