About what people should have been expecting.
Posted on 2/28/10 at 1:32 pm to danfraz
carrying those 240 lbs. is a load.

ouch
better than the 4.8 people were expecting
4.7 isn't a horible time for a pure power back

his rivals profile said 4.66 and thats when he was about 25 pounds lighter. I didnt see anyway he'd be much better than that.

What did Jamal Lewis run?

4.37
he's a bad person to compare just about any RB to as a prospect

As long as he looks good on his agility and explosiveness measures, 4.72 official electronic time is fine for that type of back.

Damn, Chuck is screwed.

and really when does low 4 end speed come in handy when bowling over defenders late in a game for crucial first downs? a lot of fuss about nothing, really.

it's just a measure of overall athletic ability
scott has not done well today
a lot of power backs in this draft, and just about all have tested better (and they were productive, too)

Ouch, but that's why I said measures. Broad jumping is one of them, but that alone doesn't tell the whole story. Scott in his prime was very explosive for his speed level while at LSU. Has a slower RB ever had so many long runs at LSU? (Even if a decent number of them were against lesser competition.)

his vertical was 30.5" i believe, which is horrid

toefield, JV

I know, overall times make a difference with contracts, gotta feed his family, well, in this case, Scott's family will be starvin.

Better RB...Scott or Tim Tebow?
Scott - 5'11" 238 4.72, 30.5 vertical, 9.03 jump
Tebow - 6'2" 236 4.70, 38 vertical, 9.07 jump
Just kidding....but Scott's performance blows.

Justin Vincent in his prime maybe, but he only did it for half a year, Scott did it for longer than a year. (And to further it into the explosiveness discussion, JV did it off his agility that he lost when he fattened up.) Toefield was faster than both, I don't remember what Toefield ran officially, but I considered Toefield a upper 4.5 guy. He had speed and strength. Proved to have no running instincts in the NFL though.
But I would be willing to bet that Scott had more 40+ yard runs in his career than both.
