Gf and I went to dinner and a movie last night....got to Louisiana Lagianappe at 6PM....Parking lot already packed....30 min. wait for a table. Just goes to prove, if you produce a good product and give good service, people will support you. We left about 8PM and they were still pilled up in the bar waiting for tables.

What is sad is that you notice it and it is somewhat novel when you get great food and great service in BR .. for the most part .. below average to average experiences are the norm .. you think the economic slowdown will shake the bottom feeders out .. but then some new joint with cheesesticks, chips, burgers, and tiny "cooked to perfection" frozen sysco steaks pops up in a strip mall ..

some are not

we went to deangelos on coursey a few weeks ago for lunch on a saturday. it was dead and the service was horrible. ever since then i've been paying attention to the parking lot when i come home. no one is ever there. i'm wondering if its on its last leg.

What would be an example of this? Never heard of it.

Drove by TJ Ribs, Outback, etc. around Acadian last night at around 7. Packed. Still crowded at about 930.

Went to BJ's Brewhouse. Got there around 745. 20 minute wait. Was winding down around 9 when we got out of there.

And the Esplanade parking lot (by the BR Marriott) was absolutely full well past 11.

So it appears that yes there are some doing well if this is an indication.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people "eat out". Does anyone cook anymore (other than the posters on this board).

Everthing was great...the GF, sot that she is, had 3 cosmos and said they were the best she has ever had(she's a professional drinker). I'm on Lent so no booze or red meat for me....I could not go with the tournados so I opted for the Black drum cooked in parchment paper...the fish was perfectly cooked....had the Oysters Lagianappe for apps....those are money

My last evening meal out was The Village on airline....I'm sure you all remember my review of that faux restaurant.
Just had to go with a sure thing to restore my faith in the Baton Rouge restaurant scene.

Let me add....about 90% of the customers last night were over 60(I almost fall into that range). We left at 8 so I don't know if the crowd got any younger...maybe it's a thursday night thing...but I thought it was worth noting.

So, the specials were all soft, easy to chew and had plenty of fiber?

+1. Have you ever tried the cornish hen? It is not something that many people would think to order, but it is really good.
