Been on the phone with my ISP all morning complaining about my lag during XBL sessions in the evening. I am paying for 10 mbps but the last speed test I did came in at around 4 mbps. The tech support guy said the full signal is going to my modem so there is nothing they can do that would increase that 4 number (way to admit you are robbing me ). The next step up in internet speed would cost me $30 extra per month. This would give me 22 mbps on paper. No telling how much it will increase in reality.
What does everyone have as far as internet speed goes? Does anyone shell out the big bucks for premium service?

I am sick and tired of watching kill cams where I haven't even started shooting at the guy and I know damn well I started shooting first.

eta. Tech support also said that the increase in speed paid for could potentially not increase my speeds one fricking bit. He said there are a number of factors that could be "slowing" the signal.

Upload and download mean very little when it comes to gaming. What matters is your latency.

A 256k connection with a really low latency would work better for gaming than a 10meg connection with high latency.

That is why satellites are garbage for gaming.

i may be wrong, but bandwith is not as important as ping time is, not sure whats the best way to check your ping

you don't need a wider road, just a faster car

Nah... You don't need a faster car, you need less traffic and red lights on the road.

Most people do it because they think it makes their games run faster. It does not.

Are you using wireless ? Try hooking up wired.

Wireless is garbage. Too much potential for interference.

Bypass your router and go straight to the modem and try it.
