is he getting good enough that a team would take Posey's contract with him for expirings? Or are we getting to the point where getting the best SF or C (deal West, Okafor to PF) we could get for Paul could actually make this team a top 3 team in the West? I've spent the past 5 minutes trying to make a CP + Posey for Granger + TJ Ford's $6m expiring work on ESPN's trade machine and I'm starting to feel bad.

No realistic move the Hornets could make within the next 3 years would vault them past the Thunder, Blazers, Mavs, Lakers, or Nuggets.

Their ceiling for the foreseeable future is the 6th best team in the West.

Why would you even consider that trade.

Getting something for Paul before he leaves while getting rid of our worst contract. Collison is starting to look legit. I'm getting concerned about Paul's knee after what Bill Simmons wrote about him in his trade value article. Plus getting rid of Posey's contract is huge.

I love CP3, and if I knew he would stay long term if we build a nice corps, I'd rather see what we could get for Collison. But DC is averaging around 16 and 8 on a pretty solid shooting %. I think that's all you really need out of your PG if you can get 40 a game from your wings and solid play from your 4 and 5.

Bill simmons is just creating controversy. CP3 will be fine and back to 100 percent by October (which all that really matters)

their problem is they are in love with DWest. When guys like Kenyon Martin and Carlos Boozer can just take him right out of his element by just challenging him athletically. This gives the Hornets ZERO chance of ever being a serious contender

The problem is you won't get even close to equal value for Paul. Obviously if you can get a wing like Carmelo you would do that and hand Collison the reins but Danny Granger is not a player you trade Chris Paul for.

There are ZERO trades that go on in the NBA today where you get equal value. So just throw that logic out the window.

You either blow it up or you go for it. That's the ONLY way. You don't stay put if your mediocre. Which is what the hornets are abd what they are doing

He can be, in the right situation.

Let's put it this way...I won't mind at all if the Hornets trade Paul for the right fit. Collison could be a starting PG for a championship team. But the Hornets need a dominant 4/5 and a fill it up winger if that's going to happen...I don't see anyone trading for CP3 and giving us one of those.

If I knew the Hornets could get an Amare, a Bosh, a Wade, then yeah, go for it. But honestly, you need star power in this league, and, ultimately, you're right, you can't trade CP3 for Granger. Not in this situation. Sign me a big, then go for it. But until then, no way.

For sure. I <3 Granger, and would take him in a heartbeat...just not for CP3.

He's not close to Chris Paul though. He's really not much more than a Gerald Wallace or Joe Johnson. If you are really going to deal a 24 year old Chris Paul you need to start looking for Carmelo/Wade/Roy/Bosh type talents and go from there. If Indiana had something to package with Granger to make a decent deal (like their lottery pick) then you could talk.

"24 YO CP3" sounds nice... but he's past his prime and will only get worse from here on out. Damaged goods whose already played his best basketball. Just the way it with injury prone undersized PG's.

I would look into trading him for a guy like Anthony Randolph.

Barely, offensive he's primarily a jump shooter and defensively he's better while Wallace is a better rebounder.

Not for Chris Paul.
