I want to rewatch it bc my appreciation for Charlie Kaufman has only recently realized itself and I saw Adaptation a long arse time ago.

Fantastic movie. One of the few Nic Cage movies I like him in.

It was nominated for 4 Oscars and won one. It has a very high rating on RT and IMDB. I don't know if that would be considered underrated. I haven't seen it though, I need to check it out .

Maybe not critically underrated but it is a great flick no one ever talks about or seems to recommend.

It's one of the better made movies in the last 10-15 years imo.

I always loved how the official credits say the writers are "Charlie Kaufman and Donald Kaufman".

Yeah, I have a copy of the screenplay right next to me.

Movie is a little too impressed with itself. It's the ultimate hack job, requiring little creativity, but presented in such a way that the hack job is lauded as "genius." It was okay, but not earth shattering, imo.

I saw it when it first came out for rental. I did not get it at the time. Maybe I need to see it again.

Come to think of it. This was the last movie I ever rented for Blockbuster or Movie Gallery.

completely disagree. you only say it's impressed with itself because it's so meta, when actually it's a great portrayal of the creative process, the angst and the honest but unapologetic egoism inherent in writing as a profession. I loved how it made the audience invested into two storylines and merged them at the end.
