Marcus Dupree. For you young bucks, there was a book written about his recruitment by Willie Morris called The Courting of Marcus Dupree. His recruitment was a foreshadowing of things to come in the recruiting world.

He was from Philadelphia, MS. Signed with Oklahoma. Blew his knee out and never really reached his full potential, although he did play pro ball.

To say he was literally a man amongst boys would be a major understatement. He played in 2A football.

Edit: Here is a wiki link about him.. Marcus Dupree

Jermaine "juice" Williams(maybe) from OCS-cant remember his last name but went to LSU/Notre Dame. Wasnt many times he didnt run for over 300 yards.

Roymon Malcolm-RUSTON RB-dude was a fricking beast. Eric Dickerson type back. One of the best teams ive ever witnessed was the Ruston 89(I believe) squad.

Bradie James-No description needed. Guy was unbelievable. so was that defense that year for WM.

Abram/Josh Booty-I remember Josh throwing 60-70 fades warming up. Every throw was on the money. First big time QB I ever faced/saw.Abram made our DB's look stupid with the smooth routes he ran. Great hands. Thought he would have been something special.

Bobby Ray Tell-was mini me version of barry sanders. Faced him twice..got torched twice. Not bad when you average over 12 yards a carry your whole carrier.

Henderson-played with Mark...was a very hard runner. Too bad he fell into wrong crowd. could have been something special.

Eric Jefferson-1st team all american DL from Evangel. Was a man child. Once ran over our center, QB, fullback and made a tackle on a sweep. Was also a running/full back for Evangel when they wanted to pound on you some. Was 6'4 250 and ran a legitimate 4.7

Marty Booker-Played WR for Chicago Bears. Was a QB at jonesboro hodge and was unbelievable. Big, fast and had a cannon for an arm.

Booger Mcfarland-what an a-hole. Huge, fast and could change a game because you still had to double team him and run away from him at the same time. Great, great talent.

Brock Berlin, John David Booty, Ray Mcneal(DB ULM/Neville) were a few others that were really good.

Cannot believe no one has mentioned Michael Burks. He was a freak. By far the best running back I have ever seen. Derron Parquet was not far behind. BUT having said that, they were both a waste of talent. They should be playing on Sundays.

Shy was ridiculous. He pretty much beat Rummel every year by himself.

In basketball, i would have to go with Lester Earl.

In basketball, Randy Livingston, and it isn't even close. Due to injuries, he was probably worse in college and the NBA than he was at Newman.

Thats rubbish. I do not care who you are playing against when you rush for over 2,000 yds in a season its something. Plus, he led Auburn in rushing in his freshman season. The dude was a stud.

Also cannot agree that the Catholic league was down during that period of time. Had tons of kids sign LOI with big time schools

89 was his sophomore season when they won the state title. Ruston had the #1 team in the nation in 1990 and crushed Catholic High (Dunn and Franklin) by something like 52-10. That team had something like 16 div. I football signees!!! I think 8 or 9 went to the SEC!!

Malcolm went to Auburn and was the starter as a freshman over Steven Davis until injuries ruined him (knee I think). He left for La Tech and moved to TE.

it was especially in regard to parquett

and rushing for 450 or so yards with no td on a 3-8 team is really not that impressive..
