yes, the ubiquitous restaurants in NOLA thread....

in NOLA next week (ash wednesday-sunday) for work; staying at the Wyndham Riverfront on convention center boulevard.

any suggestion on place to eat in the area? i already have reservations at August and Herbsaint. Can't afford to add anymore places in the August price range... ...but would be interested in other, more moderately priced, joints in the vicinity of my hotel. Need both lunch and dinner suggestions.

Last time i was in the city, I ate at--Luke, K-Pauls, Serio's, and Coshon (and the Gumbo Shoppe and the House of Blues...neither were my idea and neither were very memorable... ).

thanks in advance; i'll hang up and listen...

Catch a cab to the 800 block of Poydras and hit Horinoya for sushi...a nice change of pace and a great meal, too.

You can walk to La Boca from your hotel. And yes, Rio Mar is an obvious answer as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks.

Checked out Rio Mar website; looks good and i've seen a lot of positive reviews on here.

La Boca website didn't see to be working.

Hadn't thought about getting sushi; will float that idea. haven't had good sushi in a while.

How did you like couchon? I had it the last time I was there and it was fantastic. Have you been to GW Fins?

Personally, I would skip Herbsaint - I just find it kind of no big deal for the money.

Especially if you're going to August, you'll already be going to a place in the same style as that - and heaven knows August has the better room.

So many choices out there, dude.

If anything, you should do the $20 lunch at August and go to another high end place for dinner!

loved it. we had a fantastic server who made some great recommendations. could have made a meal of the pork cheeks.

thanks for the suggestion but this one stays on the list. i'm a big fan of Donald Link. i loved Cochon and i have really enjoyed his cookbook. been looking forward to trying his other restaurant.

this isn't a bad idea, though; i just want to try August, don't care if it is lunch or dinner.
