Who was the anchor?
ESPN's non-soccer crew shows so much blatant disrespect for the game even as the channel adds more and more soccer programming.

I think people have the right to believe this though when you've got guys rolling around on the ground screaming after they get tripped
I really see very little toughness in the sport

I'm sure Jermaine Jones would love to see this bitch in a back alley. Hell, I bet Peter Crouch could take him out with his robot dance moves.

and 9/10 times, it's simply dishonesty, rather than weakness

if he is the feller that hosts on First Take sometimes, then he needs to start paying Stu some royalty money for stealing his schtick. He does Stu's thing, but some how makes it more annoying.

what most Americans miss is that American soccer players are for the most part NOT diving pussies.. they play totally different than most of the world..

this.
They use it as a strategy, which sucks, but it's not because they have a boo-boo.

I don't think that most Asian, African, or European (outside of Italy) soccer players dive all that much either. It is much more common in Central and South America.

part of it is acting
but they get kicked by professional kickers in the shin. that shite hurts
and there aren't timeouts like there are in football/basketball/baseball

True, I don't think the Spaniards are too bad though, especially not the current generation.

I used to get angry about this misconception. But then alot of people have played soccer their entire lives.
Take a metal studded cleat of an opponent
then consider the thickness of kangaroo leather, typically what higher quality cleats/boots are made out of: pic here, too big to post in thread
then take a guy that steps on your big toe and splits it down the middle, erupting blood and leaving a deep tissue bruise over the arch of your foot despite the fact that only the toe was struck. you have to play the next several weeks with only a latex bandage and some cotton around your toe for protection
the injury itself appears to very subtle on television as if the player just "nicked" the other one, and you might get annoyed with how "dramatic" he's acting, painfully clutching at his foot.
but most likely he has to take a pair of plyers after the game and finish ripping a toenail out.
okay, so that's not every "injury" you see in soccer, but stud-to-foot fouls are often very painful. and I do agree there are lots of dives and histrionics, but the "soccer is for pussies" is just tired and uncreative when you consider the conditioning and athletic prowess involved in the sport
