My Favorite.
Trent Dilfer Saints, 35-31 The Saints' offense dominates the game, not only finishes drives with touchdowns but gives Peyton limited opportunities.

Dilfer is just a Manning hater.

I love how everyone picking the Colts gives the following reason: Peyton Manning

I'm sorry but that's a horrible argument. By making that argument, someone is saying that Peyton is just THAT much better than Drew Brees.

I think it's even funnier that these "analysts" and "experts" talk as if Manning is an unbeatable computer in the postseason when he has, in fact, been beaten in every postseason in which he's played except one, often times by inferior teams. And the one postseason where he didn't lose, he played much worse than he did during that regular season.

WTF happened to all this morons? Did they miss his loss in the WC round last year to a Norv Turner-coached 6-seed last year w/ the exact same Colts team? I really don't get how so much has changed in such a short time.

Yes they did, because that in fact did not happen. The Charges were 8-8, but as champion of the AFC West they were in fact the #4 seed, that is why the game was in San Diego. It should also be noted it was not the exact same Colts team as they had a different coach and they have 2 different WR.

Ah, so Peyton Manning's accolades are based entirely on his dominance this season. Got it. Thanks for clearing that up. We ignore past history. I get it now.

Technicality. Sorry. The Chargers had the worst record in the playoffs by 2 games b/c they won that dumpster fire of a division known as the AFC West. But, yeah, 4-seed. Right.

your only options are not to either ignore history or assume it will repeat exactly as it has before. Before this year the Saints were 0-42 in making the Super Bowl. They have won as many playoff games this year as they had in their previous 42 seasons.

or fact.

I'm no English major so correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the phrase "ESPN expert" and oxymoron

Ridiculous analogy. The only thing all the players from all those teams have in common is the logo.

You're talking about discounting 11 seasons in favor of one by the same individual player who is suddenly perceived as unbeatable.

OK, how many Super Bowls has Drew Brees won again? The funny thing is how many of the "experts" picked the Jets to beat the Colts 2 weeks ago. Who cares what they say?

I like these two:

quote:

Seth Wickersham Saints, 34-28 The NFC is simply stronger than the AFC this year. The Saints' road to the Super Bowl was tougher than the Colts', whose defense won't look as good against Drew Brees as it did against Joe Flacco and Mark Sanchez.

quote:

Rick Reilly Saints, 27-24 Because I am sick to death of being happy for the Mannings.

I haven't heard anybody call Drew Brees unbeatable. If I had to listen to ppl paid to opine on sports constantly hammer that point than I would question it in the same manner. But they don't b/c that would be ridiculous. I made a single point about a single player. No need to expand it to a bunch of stupid/incongruent hypotheticals

saying the Colts will win because of Manning does not = saying Manning is unbeatable. I've watched stuff all week, I don't recall anyone saying Manning is "unbeatable". Me thinks you are reading too much into it because they are not picking your team.
