Just curious where you guys think the coaches will place some of the tweeners from this class in comparison to where you think they best project for need/production. I'll start off with a few.

Ego Ferguson
Coaches play him at: SDE
I'd like to see him at: DT
I know one of the reasons he chose LSU was because he's been pledged a chance to play outside, but with his frame and strength, I think he would be best served inside. With Chavis' history of using small LBs, having top-notch DTs is necessary to keep those guys at the second level clean.

Eric Reid
Coaches play him at: WLB (eventually)
I'd like to see him at: SS
I think with his ability to play near the line, he'll project to be another converted safety-linebacker (ala Coleman and now Francois). I'd like to see him stay at the strong safety position opposite of Loston. Having big, rangy safeties in Chavis' scheme is really important in minimizing big plays (which plays right into his "bend but don't break" mentality). I know Miles said he reminds him of Chad Jones, but that doesn't change my prediction that he'll end up at OLB.

Spencer Ware
Coaches play him at: RB
I'd like to see him at: WLB
I know this is going to be my most controversial pick. After the USAAA, most people don't see Ware as a "tweener" anymore but as a true featureback. This pick has more to do with need than production. Ware could be a hell of a runningback, but with Ford, Calhoun, Gore, Hilliard (2011), and Hill (2011), every need at the RB position should be covered. Also at 5'11", 225 (with room to get to 235) and less than elite top-end speed, I'm not sure that Ware's ceiling isn't higher at a position other than RB.

Now for a few "tweeners" that I think will end up exactly where I'd like to see them.

Alfred Blue: SLB
J.C. Copeland: DT
Cameron Fordham: C
Sam Gibson: S
Justin Maclin: WDE
Tharold Simon: CB
Ronnie Vinson: CB

I don't think he's moved from SS. We are going to be thin there, and I think he stays at 205.

We have plenty of experimental LBs that will pan out. We would want to add three or four LBs in 2011.

What about Jacobs growing into a DE or possibly into an OT or DT? I know he's not a true "tweener" at this point, but I think he will grow to at least 265, possibly more.

Ware is too short to play LB, no way does he move there. RB is his best bet, he proved it at the AAA game when he was the best RB all week. He's a natural runner.

My thoughts on your post:

Ego Ferguson: No offense but I can't stand the way we've handled our DL lately. I'm sick and tired of moving DEs inside. We needa quit depleting our DE talent. Ferguson has the speed and athleticism to be a freak on the edge. People remember Dorsey because he's the most recent but Hill/Spears were just as dominant on the edges if not moreso. I do agree that we need to improve our DT talent but not by taking from the DEs.

Eric Reid: I see no way he plays WLB. He'll be a SS or the SAM position that Coleman played this year. He's simply too good in coverage to have him at WLB IMO. I'd love to see him at SS personally.

Spencer Ware: I couldn't disagree here more. I'm more of a bird in the hand kind of guy so including people like Hilliard/Hill in the discussion is laughable to me. It's the same reason I said passing on Michaels last year because "we had Seastrunk" was assinine. Also, to even put Calhoun and Gore in the discussion with Ware is an insult to his abilities. Even moreso, I think it's somewhat crazy to even include Ford (never been a huge Ford fan); that's how good Ware is.

Alfred Blue: SLB
J.C. Coleman: DT (not a tweener, he's here for sure)
Cameron Fordham: Don't really care
Sam Gibson: S although I've heard he doesn't exactly adore contact
Justin Maclin: WDE
Tharold Simon: WR!!!!!!!!!!!! The fact that we're thinking of putting him at CB makes me nauseous
Ronnie Vinson: CB

Stagg.....

Ego - He would make a good DE or DT IMO. I think we have some adequate DT, though more size is needed. I like faster DE for the pass rush and DT that can be disruptive at the snap and against the run. So I like Ego at DT more.

Reid - Has SS written all over him. Great coverage skills and likes to hit. You move this kid to LB and he will be good, but keep him at SS and he's great. LM would be stupid to move this kid to LB.

Spencer Ware - Im disagreeing with you here. The kid can play RB. He isnt a speed back, wont ever be one. But neither was CS and he started for a few years. I think Ware has CS strength with better speed. Kid has some wiggle, doesnt just run over you. He's a complete back. A jack of all trades RB, a king of none. Plus LM loves him some big strong 3 yards and a cloud of dust RB. Loves to chew the clock. This kid is definately on that menu.

Simon - Could easily play CB or WR. Would be a really good WR, but a great CB. To have CB skills at 6'4 is a rare gift. He's an anomaly there. I say keep him at CB.

Gibson - Im going to go on a limb. Most see him on defense for some reason, but after watching his latest clips. I see RB all over this kid. He has vision, speed, moves. He's a little tall, but who knows. I could also see him in the slot based on athleticism, but it just depends how well he does the other duties at WR (block, routes, catching, etc.). He could get a look at about 5 different positions to be honest.

Maclin - I think he gets bigger and pushes for PT at the DE position. He will be a terror there. Will need to work on his leverage at that height and get his pad level low. But I could see him standing up at the DE position as well. Could also see him dropping in zone coverage from the DE position. Could do a number of different things with him too.

Spencer Ware - RB all the way
Ronnie Vinson - CB...maaaaaybe S
Tharold Simon - First spot S, second WR, third CB
Ken Adams - DE...but I really would rather see him at TE
J.C. Copeland - DT all the way
J.R. Ferguson - Promised DE
Jarrett Fobbs - WR but is a better CB imo
Sam Gibson - No freaking idea, could play just about anywhere
Nick Jacobs - TE first, OT if too big
Justin Maclin - DE first, LB if we need him there
