Rudy

on the right hand side..
What a fantastic interview with he and Coach Dale Brown...

Wow! I grew up on that team...what a run!

I truly hope we can get back the glory days of Tiger Basketball...

Rudy and Dale are all class!

Rudy was a great player and person. I never followed LSU Basketball until those great teams of the early 80's with Rudy, Hi-C, Jordy and The Cookie Man, Duane Scales, Ethan Martin. Great teams and great years of Tiger Basketball! How wonderful it would truly be to see those days return!

LSU's '80-'81 season at the PMAC, was like almost twenty games worth of UF-LSU 2007 Tigerstadium atmosphere..unreal the packed Deaf Dome that year..

Tigers buzzsawing teams with the nation's longest winning streak.

Rudy has always been my favorite LSU Hoopster, ever since my early teen years.

I was so fortunate to watch Rudy play 78-80 when I was in school. Man, he was so solid for us! I went to every home game, did some road trips, and caught most of the NCAA tourney games. Rudy played hard, played with class, and always left it out on the floor. Off the floor, he was a fun guy and a great ambassador for LSU. LSU basketball really rocked back then!! Camped out on the PMAC ramps a couple of times to get a good seat. Great memories! Rudy deserves to have his jersey retired!!

I definitely agree. Dale Brown worked tirelessly in the pre-Macklin days to promote basketball here in BR and to promote LSU basketball everywhere else. Having Rudy Macklin here made it a lot easier for him. Rudy's a class act. No one deserves having his jersey retired more than Rudy Macklin.

I still believe that if Rudy doesn't get hurt in the Superdome that year, that we win the NC.

I've been saying it for many years, Rudy deserved to be the fourth jersey in those rafters..no doubt about it! And posting it on here too.

Late '70s to early '90s..LSU Basketball on average was easily a national top ten to fifteen program. And at one point had the nation's longest going dancing streak.

If Coach Brown and LSU could've only been a little luckier with Rudy's finger injury in Regional Final..

And even more importantly, the horrible luck of being in some years, easily one of the best four to five teams in the country, yet landing in the same bracket as some of the greatest players and teams over the last fifty years..Dr Dunkenstein and the McCray Bros Louisville..Magic and Kelser's MSU..Knight's '87 Hoosiers..etc..there would be even more Mens Final Four banners in the PMAC.

Too bad they didn't retire it last year when LSU would have had a packed house to see it.

I was lucky enough to have been in the basketball band, as well as TB, in 80 and 81.

The youngsters just don't understand when some of us talk about how the "Atmosphere" in the AC was the equal of any in Tiger Stadium. Hard to believe if you weren't actually there, especially considering what it's like in the PMAC now.....

The key is for Trent to land a blockbuster recruit...that sticks for about 3 years...and start winning and making it exciting again

Chris Jackson energized the PMAC like no other also...Shaq was not the star, CJ was..

I watched him score 51 live one night in the summit against Texas..it was a show I will never forget...
