so I'm guessing in two-three years we will have Washington/Collins at tackle, and Faulk at guard. That's a young but badass line for years to come. Collins is the first five star o-lineman that we got a commitment from that I can remember in a long time.

Faulk will play Tackle with Washington at Guard.

I would expect the line to be:

LT - Collins
LG - Williford
C- Lonergan
RG - Washington
RT- Faulk

Potentially a little variation as far as what side of the line they play.

Imagine if we can throw Greg Robinson into that mix, too - he also most likely be a 5-star by the time it's all said and done.

He'll redshirt I would assume so that would add some age difference between him and Faulk. The OL is about to be the most stacked position on the entire team...I have been preaching this for awhile now.

I agree and I noticed that you have Lonergan at the center position; does this mean that you believe that he'll take the job from T-Bob this spring or this fall?

I actually think it was somewhat stacked last year. The problem was that most of the "stacked" portion of the roster was on the bench. I know hindsight is 20/20, but you cannot tell me that Blackwell and Hurst at the two guard positions would have been a definite upgrade from Josh D and Hitt. (And that's no disrespect to Hitt and D) Bigger guards probably would have helped out T-Bob as well.

That's okay, cuz the o-line is about to get nasty over the next couple of years I think.

He is physically more talented. If he can overcome Stud's favoritism for TBob is another question.

HE better learn how to make the calls at the line too.

Another year of experience should do the trick

Probably. He's a better run blocker but I don't think that makes him a better overall player.

T-Bob battles hard out there.

From the tapes I watched closely, Hitt was an abortion at RG this year. Just an embarrassment. Hurst should have been inserted from week 2 and that would have improved our running attack immediately.

The progression of the Oline, or the confidence I have that we will have a good Oline next year is the part of the team I'm most nervous about.

Hurst might be the most physically talented O-lineman we have on the team. He would have helped us out immensly.

I don't know who is better, but I can tell you that Lonergan was new to the position and was having trouble with shotgun snaps. Really, the only thing I fear over the course of the next couple seasons regarding the o-line is the Stud's favoritism. I'm afraid the changes next year will be minimal despite the fact that we have a lot of young, talanted o-linemen. Hurst and Blackwell are examples of young guys not getting a shot.

I can see why Josh D. played over Blackwell. He's just a better overall athlete. That said, his body/strength just weren't ready.

Hitt over Hurst was a poor choice due to seniority. However, if you watched closely, in the back half of the year Hurst and Hitt were essentially trading series.

That is good news if you ask me because Hurst has been exposed to what it's like and he has enough experience to be for all intents and purposes a "returning starter."

Also, I just wanna throw out there that Hurst is a kid that was fairly maligned on this board and highly questioned by a lot of posters saying, "Why should we take a kid with no offers" blah blah blah. We'll see how he turns out.

He got blown up on that play and then tripped.

Nice cheap shot by the guy at the end of the block.

What post is this in response to?

I guess a mod deleted it, but someone posted a link to a video that had some kid blocking Collins while he was playing DT. He blew Collins off the line pretty good but then Collins tripped and the dude just dove on him even though he was on the ground... kind of a cheap shot move.

I don't remember Hurst being maligned all that much. There wasn't any real film available on him.

The guy that caught a ton of abuse was Williford. I was the source of some of those comments and said it would take ~3 years before he could contribute....and it looks like thats exactly how long until he really sees the field.

A lot of people questioned taking a guy with no other real interest from anywhere and the fact that if no one knew anything about him why would LSU take him.

Williford could be in the mix for PT next year and apparently has been very impressive.
