look at the dt's bama have committed..they're not complaining at all

No matter how you put it, we are pretty thin, very inexperienced and overall pretty small at DT.
Hopefully someone puts some fire into Davenport and he ends all of our worries.

We'll take at least 3 DT's next year and at least 2 maybe 3 DE's.That's 5 minimum and up to 6-7 Dl guys next year. We'll be fine.Even if we would have gotten some more guys this year they wouldn't have played next year.Ferguson is the only one that would've hd the chance.Marsh wouldn't have played DT next year.Bitching about next year's rotation isn't going to change who we have there. It would be the same guys regardless.

calm down with the d line situation and complaining about how we'll get pushed around with the smaller dts. i recall back in the 2007 i believe, that chavis dl situation at ut was WAY worse than we'll probably ever have. i remember him being down to guys who were dts weighing about 265 and he at least held up. i'll be able to sleep at night knowing the dl rotation will look like
DE
Chancey Agayhere, Lavar Edwards, Sam Montgomery, Chase Clement, and Maybe Pep.
DT
Nevis, Downs, Davenport, Brockers, Logan

That is the problem. And none of the DTs we recruited would have fixed that.
Chavis seems to ignore size for whatever reason. He likes slanting and stunting, but that did him no good against Alabama and even LTech bc all that did was get his defense all out of position.

maybe you should go look at the roster.... edwards is listed as dt. Plus brockers and logan can move inside.
List the players by position and you will see Edwards is listed as DT and that we have depth there.
people really need to stop posting complete and utter bullshite on this board.

The roster isn't a very good source to use. Edwards is listed as a DT but took all of his snaps at DE. Taylor is listed as a CB and was a starting safety.
But you do have a point in that we have more than just three guys at the position.

only two "true" Dt's
Id recruit at least three of the guys listed on Page one....esp the Freak, Rasco, and maybe two of the others...

wtf does that mean? just because only two of them played high school dt? RJF was a beast on the inside(the times he played). We are fine.

taylor still may play cb and edwards may move inside. the point was we have more than 3 players.

No, you need to be at least 295lbs to be a serious DT...265-70 is large DE not a Tackle, 275 usually means u get pushed around by 320lb O-lineman unless your just an absolute beast....you gotta bea able to take the double team and hold your ground..."true DT"

I disagree. I think the primary in-state D-linemen that we should be going after this early in the game are Johnson, Rasco, and Thomas. I think we should wait until midway through Hunter and Mickey Johnson's senior years to offer them (assuming they impress). We should definitely be pursuing the two, along with many other potential in-state prospects, but I do not think that they should be offered this early.
2011 is going to be a big year for DT's nationwide and, with the already evident strength of LSU's 2011 class, there is likely to be plenty of out-of-state prospects that will want on-board.
We have already offered and should definitely be going after OG Greg Robinson right now. He'll either be a high 4-star or a 5-star prospect, and we definitely want to keep him in-state and line him up next to Collins in the future.

so we have 1...nevis is 292. brockers is at 285 downs 275 and davenport is 323.

and you saw how are D-line got pushed around so bad this year....remember the days they were dominant....Dorsey 300lbs....look at the other dominant ones around the league, majority are around 295-300lbs...be big and quick, otherwise LB's and DB are making all the tackles...DT do two things, keep the lineman off the LB's during running plays and apply pressure on passing downs...
If you run a 3/4 which we dont, you have to have a rock in the middle to be successfull, ala Mt Cody...
4/3 isnt much different you just need two guys that dont need to get pushed around, clog the holes...

I hear what you are saying, but LSU does not need to slow play anymore in state players that have offers from other powers as they have for the past two years. It has bit them in the a**.
