None of our WRs in this class are on the level of Hunter or Davis. Those are the facts.

Sadly, this is the cold hard truth.

this is ridiculous. I realize that we all would have rather had Davis and Hunter and Reed but you guys have to understand that we had some really bad luck this year and that we are in good shape. I cant believe some of the negative people on here that call themselves Tiger fans. It is embarrassing. I pray to god that none of our recruits read this board.

People complaining about this pick-up at this stage in the game are fricking clueless star gazers who would rather have the coaching staff evaluate kids based on * ratings by the recruiting services only. The same folks that will swing from his jock once he scores his first TD as an LSU Tiger.

Thats the negative cold hard truth.

The positve cold hard truth: Next year we have a WR that will make us forget about those guys that jumped ship...

I think commitments like this help me realize that following Rivals, Scout and ESPN rankings are a good guide, but it's impossible to evaluate all the players each year in HS...then compare them and rank them....too many kids, too many miles to cover...

Teams like VT come to mind, they are never near the top 10 in recruiting but always a solid club...

The Williams kid is a great Athlete...

A lot of people were upset about Morris Claiborne last year only being a 2 star, but next year he may start! He is a phenomenal athlete!

The point is...the most important thing is dealing with reality, not a fan wanting to boost team recruiting rankings so they can boast to their buddies at work...

If the kid can play, then that is what Fans should really be focused on...not an offer sheet or number of stars..though that is usually a good judge of talent.. but not the be all

If we get Boone today, then I think LSU has done a pretty good job of recovering from losing Davis and Hunter... I doubt Hunter ends up playing for 2 or 3 years..he is way too thin for SEC play...he may end up a track guy..

Boone is legit on film...

Davis is an Elite talent from what I have seen...that one hurt, but we Rueben Randle and Shep, with Landry and Sylve next year!

LSU is going to be excellent at WR the next several years...nothing has changed..LSU is still putting WR's in the NFL, even with below average QB Play...

Check out this qoute about Armand Williams from Dandy Don's Sunday update:

quote:

Reader comments: If you read Max Emfinger's Recruiting site, you will hear him rave about Williams as one of the top 5 receiver prospects in the nation, 5-star and MVP of recent combines and all-star game. Says he is a totally unbelievable prospect. The Piggies are very upset to lose him and cannot believe he chose our offense over Petrino and Mallett. Hopefully our offense will be much better next year. This guy might turn out to be really good. LaFell was 3-star. By the way, Max also rates Wright as 5-star.

Pretty impressive!

Better to have someone like Williams that loves LSU than those guys that left, that may have left anyways and may have played without any heart...

I have watched this young man for the last three years. Unfortunetly played in a poor program that produced Matt Forte. Who was also a 3 star. He is a 3 star for that reason alone. There are many great athleletes who were 3 stars because they played in poor programs. He is leader, great hands, and can make plays with his jumping ablity. You can't be star chaser all the time, you also have to judge talent. Armand will be a great Tiger. I am excited to see him play in Tiger Staduim and so will the rest of the people on this board. Armand welcome to the Tiger Nation!

The amount of stars Williams has doesnt really matter . If he has good speed and is intelligent , he will be a stud . Coming out of HS Javier Arenas was a 2 star . So some of these guys just fly under the all mighty rivals radar .

Armand is a good student, very intelligent and a natural leader. He is a student of the game and is extremely coachable. He will soak in good coaching especially from someone like Coach Gonzales. He has all the physical tools plus the character traits and work ethic that will make him great. These are things you cannot measure for stars.

the only reason i can come up for with people bashing him and the coaches is the timing of the commitment..? if he had signed early people would be talking about the upside to this kid in this class rather than bashing him, and his 'stars'. JMO

He reminds me of Craig Davis and his film is more impressive thean Hunter...Hunter played against very weak competition in Virginia and I have seen it.

The people bashing Armand obviously do not know him. They only want as many stars as possible.
Those that are negative about him have never seen him play. If they had a chance to see him and talk to him they would know he is going to be exceptional. I know that Miles and Gonzales spent a great deal of time with him for a reason. When McCarthy left they dropped the ball on some players, they finally got there act together on Armand. He is going to be great.

to add to this, Miles does not have a track record of finding under the radar guys and making them stars. Go back through his previous classes and you'll see.
LaFell was an under the radar guy. He was a 3* out of Texas and was devoloped into a first day draft guy.

Well that couldn't be further from the truth. A lot of guys last night were piling on him because they hadn't heard of him before yesterday. That shows their ignorance because those that follow recruiting closely had heard of Williams.

He played on a run-dominant team and didn't have a chance to show but he's certainly got the measureables and his video looks good.

If I'm Williams I print out all of the negative shite said about me and post it in my locker and run the words through my head when I'm about to puke while runnin drills or when my muscles are aching when I'm lifting.

Just shake the haters and welcome aboard Armand.
