Will they be called the Bayou Bandits, or the
"Bend dont break" defense.

How much faith do you have in Chavis for having a smothering defense like we always do?

I think every part of the defense is better than last year.

Except for losing Coleman.

Really & truly, the defense could bend & not break all night long but if the offense can't muster up more than 6 yards per series, it won't matter what you call their philosophy. I am much more worried about what the offensive line/offensive play calling does than I am about the defense. The defense wasn't perfect last year but when you hold UF to 13 points & the only thing your offense can give you is 3, THAT is where the concern should be. Until the offense starts flipping the time of possession, 3rd down conversions, & scoring trend, the defense will always be at a disadvantage. It's hard to swarm when you've been on the field for twice as long as you should have been. Offense is this team's issue, I'll take last years defense with an IMPROVED offensive line/offensive gameplan all year long & would be VERY satisfied.

G E A U X T I G E R S!!!

I just wish they would stop wearing "number 1 defense" on thier eye black.

Its fricking embarrasing IMO.

If the offense gets fixed then the defensed won't bend so damn much. They bent mostly late when they were completely worn out due to the offense not staying on the field so often. Defense will be fine. Fix the damn offense.

2003. that was it. '04 was okay, but got destroyed at UGA.

our 2006 defense was pretty solid. probably the 2nd best of the past 10 years.

If the defense takes a step back, pressure on the offense will not be great to watch.

If our defense and offense just become a pile of shite, I may riot, FWIW.

I would really like to see better D, but don't think it will happen. "Prevent to Win" Chavis will be out in full force next season and he and Miles will be under so much pressure to put a better product on the field they will just crumble underneath it all.

Chavis' defense philosophy is to make the offense work for points. Don't give up big plays. It did well enough to keep us in every game this year.

It will work well if the offense can get off it heels and score points. They go hand in hand. Much like what we did in 2003. Conservative offense and aggressive defense. That formula did not work will in 2004.

It is a team sport.

This.

How is the defensive line going to be better with only two experienced DT's returning? And now there is more talk Miles will move Davenport from DT to the OL. That is mind-boggling considering how thin LSU already is at DT and further proof that Miles continues to fail at evaluating DT talent.

I predict that if the defense holds the opposition scoreless in every game, 75% of the rantards will say Les sucks and ahole nick could have done it better.
