I think too many people name movies that are at the top of other people's lists (Citizen Kane, The Godfather).

I'm sorry, Freauxzen.

I admittedly had shitty taste in movies for most of my life. Only in the past 5 or so years have I sought out greatness.

I haven't got a clue WTF that is in prom's picture.

Please enlighten me, for the sake of my kids. i don't want them raised on the shite movies I was raised on .

I know your pain. My parents had the worst taste in music possible. Chuck Mangione, Barry Manilow, Lionel Richie. I didn't discover The Beatles until I was like 15. (I give my dad credit though, he did listen to the Beach Boys, although not enough).

Go to a video store and rent everything John Carpenter made from 1974 - 2000. Prepare to be blown away with awesomeness.

You are welcome.

And the movie is They Live, and if you take my advice, you'll watch it. And then you'll run out of bubble gum and have to kick some arse.

Edited for date change

Am I the only one who can't stop thinking about Timmy fighting Jimmy every time I watch "They Live"?

No doubt.

Halloween, Prince of Darkness, The Thing, The Fog, Assault on Precint 13, Escape from New York, In the Mouth of Madness...all are some of my favorite movies.

I still think Carpenter is generally underrated, especially in terms of pure inventiveness. The guy knows how to create interesting movies.

And I always say, The Thing is about as close to a perfect film experience as you can get. Not meaning that is the best ever, just that it comes the closest to doing exactly what it intends to do
