Joevoskie Mitchell from Zwolle.

I have heard that LSU placed him at Angelina, but I haven't verified that. Currently tied for the scoring lead on the team as a freshman at just under 13 points per game. I don't know if LSU is planning on recruiting him out of JUCO.

Where is Joevoskie Mitchell now?

Angelina College

Hasn't played in their last 6 games. Injury, grades or discipline?

you could make a pretty good team out of MR. Basketball winners from La that didn't go to LSU

i can't believe DJ has never won that award..

Maybe he would have won it in 06 his senior year but he moved to Texas..

Dude was a straight baller at Brother Martin..

Freshman Year - lost in the state title game
Sophomore Year - WOn state title
Junior Year- Won State Title
Senior-- storm hit... went to Texas

He was amazing to watch.. his team beat Taz in the first game at game in laffy one year..

He also beat Martin Zeno who went on to play for Texas Tech...

Are the bobcats playing Felton so his number will go up and they can trade him? Or do they like Felton over DJ?

Joe is back in Zwolle. He wants to start going to work for a living. He will just be a kid that was a stud in HS that decided to not pursue ball for one reason or another. I won't say what all I know but he is back in Zwolle for sure and just working on his future.

Yes I have, I am the reason why all the Zwolle kids got on Rivals.com last year. I did a lot of stuff for them kids year. But to compare Antonio to Dennis is a slap in Antonio's face. I think he is better than Dennis Harris. DH is not that good. Just a good athlete. Antonio can actually shoot the ball but didn't need to at Zwolle. I really like Antonio, his biggest problem though is not playing hard every play and takes too many plays off. If he played hard for the entire game he would be a big time player.

Bump. Just watching Zwolle play in the dome got me thinking about Mitchell.

Easily the best player I've ever seen in Class B. I see it was posted in this thread that he is no longer playing college basketball. Hopefully all goes well for him in his future.

Could never figure out why someone would prefer working a regular job with a high school diploma instead of going the JUCO route to get academically qualified and then play for a D-1 school, especially if they have the talent (like this guy and Churphy Steward, for a football example, seemed to have).

Yeah, I'm going to have to stick with Tweety on this one. Even the 8th grade version of Carter was sick

New York Times Article

Here is a link to a New York Times Article talking about Sabine Parish Basketball which includes Zwolle. It talks about how a lot of good players come from small schools but hardly ever go to college or do anything and their mentality. It was written when Joevoskie was playing at Zwolle and mentions him. Also talks about a lot of the national records held by schools/people from Sabine Parish. Very good read.

Yeah, I was thinking Tweety in Class C for whatever reason. And I usually never even counted Reserve as Class B/C.

Benard King played B and left Texas A&M as their all time leading scorer. He was the best I've ever seen. He would score whenever he got ready. Kilbourne had a team with 4 kids that played college ball 3 at small schools one at ULM. King beat them by himself. GB was down 2 with about 3 seconds to go he took the endbounds pass behind half court at Oak Grove (College Size Floor) 2 dribbles and shot a all wrist jump shot from half court and there was never a doubt when it left his hand. A coach I knew said he was the best player in the state. He also said King and Carter are 2 kids he couldn't believe LSU didn't recruit.
