The Viking intentionally made sure all his weight landed on drew.

That's pretty classless of them, especially after the way our line treated Favre with kid gloves.
It's football, the defense's job is to hit the QB. And a fat lineman falling on you probably isn't as big of a hit as turning around and saying Hello to Retirement Plan McCray.

Them saying we have no class is classless in itself. This guy they like to brag about all the time and love, named Jared Allen, spends every down of his life trying to KILL the Quarterback yet they complain when we actually kill theirs.

But since his name isn't Favre or Manning the referee just looked the other way

Did you see the high/low hit on Favre? That was clearly a penalty that was not called.

The refs reminded me of watching an SEC football game. The inconsistencies throughout the game was embarrassingly obvious. Very poor and unimpressive.
First thing crossed my mind on that hit Brees took in OT was, that's a personal foul penalty for roughing QB. Has to be. The Viking drove Brees into the turf. I just saw them call this on Hargrove driving Favre into the turf. They have to call this shite. Nope.

McCray grabbed Farve's calf from behind, he didn't hit his knee or his chest or his stomach.
He was falling down and stumbling and the only thing he could grab was his leg.
And did you see the hit on Brees in OT ????
It was the EXACT same hit that Hargrove made on Farve. (picking up and throwing him down and landing on top). Did the Vikings get called for it?????? Why nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
of course not !!!!!!!!

He was blocked into him and wraped up his feet and ankles. NO shot to the front of the knees, which would be a penalty (Brady Rule). Vikes should have done a better job protecting the QB. If I was a Vikings fan, I would be really upset with both my O and D-lines. Allen was a nonfactor and Farve got hit at least 16 times starting on the first play from schrimmage.

The fifth provision of Rule 12, Section 2, Article 12 (roughing the passer) says that: "A rushing defender is prohibited from forcibly hitting in the knee area or below a passer who has one or both feet on the ground, even if the initial contact is above the knee. It is not a foul if the defender is blocked (or fouled) into the passer and has no opportunity to avoid him."
Seeing the rule I really have to question what the media is complaining about. He was going after the passer and was blocked towards the grownd at his knees. By rule this should be a clean hit.

Nobody talks about Drew's mobility on the play where we had the pass interference called on leber with david thomas out there. Drew was able to keep that play alive and a sack for that 15 yard loss could have cost us the NFC championship. Drew did what had to be done for his team to win. Brett did what he had to do for his team to lose.

The Saints didn't do anything to win that game. Jesus it's like some of you don't even watch ESPN.

I am a Saints fan. I definitely thought the hit on Brees should have been a penalty, but only based on the earlier one called on the Saints, not because I thought it should have been a penalty.
I also saw a hands to the facemask on Brees not called.
But I saw the hit on Favre to the legs a lot differently than you did.
I think the Saints got away with a lot of questionable hits on Favre in the first half based on calls we have seen througout the years.
The hit out of bounds on the Saints was completely lame.
Yeah the refs did a bad job. But I think the whining about the persecution of the Saints is over the top.
We won.
Now we play Indy and get torched.

*stomps on my sarcasm meter*
WTF are you talking about. Minny's RB didn't just fall down on his own for no gain and first and second down before we forced Minny to call the timeout for the critical timeout and then force Brett into a bad pass. We made that shite happen!

Again read the rule.. The player was blocked to the ground into him. If the official sees it that way then he made the correct call regardless of what you think.

its not about the rule. I have not watched it over and over as you apparently have. I did not see him blocked into Favre. If that is definitively the case, and not just what you think, then different situation.

If I did it wasn't memorable. Although I think most of the roughing penalties are BS so I tend to get more outraged at them being called than not being called. The only reason the others are burned in memory is because they replayed them so much.
Was the officiating inconsistent? Very much so. Vikings got the benefit of the doubt the first 50 minutes or so and then the refs switched sides like they had just found out a family member had been kidnapped.
