Anybody ever been? Going to the mountains, but doing a tour of the New Belgium Brewery before, and grabbing some dinner. Looking for a couple suggestions on food/bars if by chance anybody has any.

Been there plenty. I love that place. Unfortunately, can't recommend any restaurants as we camp there. But its a beautiful place.

Cool. I went there over Christmas and passed through downtown, but didn't have a chance to really see a whole lot. I guess I'll just wing it.

I lived in Fort Collins for a year. I loved eating/drinking at Old Chicagos. I know its a chain....but it was always really fun and the food was good.

emailed a gpoof friend. He and his wife are from Fort Collins, went to their wedding there a few years ago. His response:

quote:

Fort Collins...? We of course frequent the theplaces that aren't always considered high class but I got a short list for you...
- wings- Jim's Wings
- burritos- Big City burrito
- margs- Rio Grande ( bad Tex-Mex food, but strong margs...we go there before bars every night )
- bar food/pizza and cheap good beer deals throughout week- Old Chicagos
- mexican- Padre Pancho, Consuellos (spelling ?)
- sandwich (and other "grub")- Pickle Barrel

I have to look up names of the "finer" establishments, I can't remember names of those while I am drinking.
We hit the rio, jim's and big city every trip home!

eta: this was his response on his phone from a bar. so it's brief.

My wife's from there and we go about 3 times a year. Any restaurant in Old Town is ok as it's pretty much "college" based. If you have a thing for pizza, I like Pulcinella's. They have a couple of locations. Also, you MUST go to Jax's Mercantile. One of the greatest outdoor places in Colorado and it's locatedon College drive.

Good deal. Thanks for the tips. Old Chicagos sounds like a winner. Usually don't go for pizza when touring cities, but would probably be a wise idea to pinch a few pennies before hitting the mountains.

Go on the tour of O'Dell Brewing company as well.

Old Town is good, if nothing else for better ambiance. Coopersmith's brews their own beer and is in a great location.

Big City Burrito is the best, on College and Mulberry near Old Town. It's like Izzo's style. Get the potato burrito; you'll never go back.

I went to high school there, I have lots of suggestions.
