I believe the competition should be open. If JJ is truly the best we have then he should start, If someone else is better they should start. I don't think we should give JJ the starting job because he is more experienced. Especially if he is going to look lost on the field.

If we are going to lose games, I would rather our QB out there understanding the game situations. Not wanting to spike the ball with 1 second left or letting 13 seconds run off the clock before snapping the ball after the penn st penalty. A QB understanding the situation would have had the offense lined up and ready to snap the ball as soon as the ball was spotted. not pointing to the ground 3-4 times.
So your dont want him to spike when the coach tells him to? and you dont want the rest of the offense to know what is going on when he gets to the LOS? Lets face it that penalty vs Penn st ended the game. Blaming the next play on JJ is pretty academic I think.

I am not giving up on J. Lee yet either. Lee got thrown to the lions in 2008. He is old and maybe better now. The guy played a shot-gun spread in the Texas high school system and was a highly rated recruit.

Where JJ avoids mistakes at all costs, J. Lee has shown that he takes a chance. Sometimes risks have to be taken to open up the opposition's defense.

good call...

Same crap like have a 135 QB rating and completing 61% of his passes?

which puts him where in the SEC?
tebow(uf) 164 rating 67%
mallet(ark) 153 rating 56%
todd(aub) 145 rating 60%
cox(uga) 136 rating 60%
hartline(uk) 114 rating 60%
snead(ole miss) 124 rating 54%
lee(msu) 107 rating 59%
garcia(sc) 119 rating 55%
crompton(ut) 136 rating 58%
smith (vandy) 88 rating 47%
(middle of the row is where)
I think he was talking about taking sacks, horrible clock management and just overall bad decisions with the football.

He just looks like what we've been needing. Confident strong armed pocket passer that can just get it to the playmakers hands

He must really kick arse in warmups for you to come to this conclusion.

it doesn't matter if he's better or not.

He's a white dude so some Tiger fans think he's better right off the bat

I have heard this excuse and He was getting the play from the sideline. If this is the case then you want a QB that the coaches don't have enough faith to have more than one play at a time in his head.

The offense was lined up. He sat back there and did his hand to the ground four times before calling for the ball..

He had a better passer rating, more TDs and fewer Ints than J Russ his sophomore year.

You cant make Garrett into an allstar when he has never seen the field

Are all the people that are wanting JJ to start because he has a year experience irrelvent whether anyone else is better, On this board before the season wanting JL to start of JJ because he was more experienced.

So with a 137 hes 4th? Behind 2 seniors and a Jr who is probably going pro? So that would logically make him the best returning QB in the SEC? Wow...way to strengthen my point.

I think this is the main problem... look at our national title years and the quaterbacks from the previous year. 2003 qb. matt mauck smart intelligent player.. not necessarily the most gifted athelete on the field but could make the plays that needed to be made. 2002 qb marcus randall. 2007 qb matt flynn. again, same type of qb as mauck.. intelligent with the football and made good decisions. 2006 jamarcus russell. amazing athlete and ended up being the number 1 draft pick. I dont care what kind of athlete you are if you cant make good decisions on the field (insert jj) or off the field (insert r perrilloux) so if cg is more intelligent with the football give him a shot.

It is unfair to compare the "intelligence" or decision making ability of 3 seniors to a sophomore. And you dont know how good Garrett is till hes in the game under pressure. To use practice or highschool to judge how well he'll do vs UF, Bamma, UGA, AU, etc. is irresponsible.

and I left out mcelroy with his 140 rating and 61 % so he is probably the 3rd or 4th best returning qb

Semantics. The point is you want to bench a guy who, judging by QB rating, will be one of the best returning starting QBs. So that you can have a RS freshman jump in and pull a J Lee. Lets be smart here people.
