I bought some ground turkey earlier today and was wondering if substituting it for ground beef in my regular chili recipe would work? Or if it would throw the flavor off? I've never cooked with ground turkey before so I'm a little unsure.

Anybody know a good turkey chili recipe?

I have used ground turkey before and it wasn't bad. Just cook it the way you normally cook chili. You could always mix half ground turkey and beef too! Good luck!

thought about that but I'm doing it mainly to make it healthier so I wanna 86 the ground beef completely.

I use 1/2 ground turkey breast and have 96/4 lean beef in mine.

I also put in tons of veggies: onion, garlic, peppers, squash, zucchini, grated carrot, canned diced tomato, beans

the must use ingredient is MEXINE chili powder. I loosely follow the recipe on the back of the container, but I all all the extra veggies plus probably double the onions and garlic. I also add a healthy dose of cayenne.

I put all the ingredients into a calorie counter website and told it there would be 12 servings (but I usually get more than that) and it was less than 400 calories and 10 grams of fat per serving.

I make vegetarian chili and I guarantee its as good as any chili w/ meat. So using turkey is no problem.

The texture will be different. Ground turkey will break down into a fine particles instead of staying firm like the beef.
