no matter who the qb is, are you confident in this staff to use them so that they are effective?

you know, the staff did a pretty good job when flynn was qb and hester was at rb. i, like many, was sucked into having some confidence in Les. that was 2 years ago, and now i feel like les got very lucky with a lot of talent left over.

Bingo! And that's why LSU will start losing recruiting battles. How good is Michael Ford? Why would a player with mulitple offers choose LSU, knowing that more than likely he will sit on the bench?

I dont think Miles holds back on RBs...last year, fans kept on calling for Ridley to starts instead of KW (when CS got injured)...but KW did a better job than Ridley.

It's just a retarded argument to begin with.

If LSU's trouble last year and this year were inexperience at QB, why on earth would anyone think that a QB making his first run through the SEC (again) would deliver a different result for next year?

If we had coaches who could develop QB's, that might make sense (see McElroy), but we don't have that.

Garret's Highlight vids aren't that special, either.

4 step process of the Garrett love affair:

1) Offense performs poorly
2) Most idiots put the blame on the shoulders of the QB
3) 2nd string QB has performed demonstrably awful
4) Nobody thinks Shep can throw the ball

That leaves us with Garrett, by default. There were some comments about him being impressive in the spring. . .but we heard all that about Lee, Jefferson, and Richard Murphy.

This is the thought process of the average rant dweller.

112th ranked offense. Can't do much worse.

I don't think CG should be named the starter, but I think it should be an open competition. JJ didn't play well enough this year to give him the starting job. If someone else is betting in the spring and fall, they should start, but Les will play the upper classman regardless who is better.

true...but the trick is it cant be open just in practice, the only way it can truely be open is if they all play in a real game...Some guys do well in practice and some are gamers...only problem is we dont have anywhere on our schedule next year to do this...

I agree, our schedule is tough up front. If we can't get a clear cut favorite by the end of fall then they need to have a short leash. If JJ starts and still looks confused, then we need to check someone else out. If someone beats him out and they look lost then I am not sure. I just think JJ showed slight improvements but still looks lost. Hopefully the coaches will change their teaching techniques from the past 2 years and will learn to develop someone. whomever it is, I will be cheering. (pulling teeth out)

All there is to know is that he will give JJ a run for his money in the spring.

Why isn't R. Shepard being named as being a player in the qb sweepstakes

bottom line is someone is gonna be put in a tough spot, but thats what I want...I want to find the guy that is strong enough to get through the tough spot and you keep rotating until one becomes the clear winner...JJ didnt show any improvement at all. now, Im sure alot of it had to do with what he saw last year (people telling him to protect the football)and play calling, but fact is the game moves waaaaaay to fast for him and he would be better suited to play another position...he doesnt think fast enough...I think the shep kid deserves a real shot...in a game...throwing...until i see it with my own eyes I will always question it...

For RS to not throw 1 pass all year is a slap in his face for all he done. We played ULL, La Tech,& Tulane and you could get one pass.

I agree that the way JL was treated last year, really hurt JJ. He was doing all he could so the fans wouldn't turn on him they way the turned on JL.

The game definitely looks too fast for JJ. My problem is that he has no understanding of the game when the clock is running. I blame the coaches for the end of game issues this year but he QB is the coach on the field and he always looked as lost as CLM. We need someone to take control of this offense and make quick decision on the field

Maybe we should ask Alabama this question?

I agree 100% but the main problem is, alot of times you dont grow out of this...this is a "cool in the clutch" human trait...some people got it and some dont...I dont believe you can develop this...so,...why leave him in if you know that he's gonna fold the next time the game is on the line...IMO its best to get the guy that isnt scared in there...Did you ever see Shep scared to play?....I sure as hell didnt....

I agree. We should give Shep a chance. I seen him take some great hits this year and get up having the WANT to get the ball again.

With how JJ played this year, if he doesn't improve tremendously and still plays confused, then we will go 7-5, 8-4.

With another Young QB we will still be 7-5, 8-4

What is the difference other than seeing what someone else can do.
