I dont know if i would hire Ruffin or not. MSU was a depleted football team. The victory quite frankly isnt that impressive.

Did you pay attention at all to what happened this week? It was impressive given the circumstances.

Bill Stewart was the man when he took over West Virginia as well.

I'm not an expert on Ruffin McNeill. Maybe he'd be a good coach, maybe he wouldn't. But I hope TTU looks at things carefully and explores their options, instead of just immediately hiring him, like WVU. I'm not sold just because he led an 8-4 team over a 6-6 team with 14 guys suspended in a virtual home game.

If the university takes the time to evaluate some other coaches and/or review the game/McNeill's resume some more and thinks he's the best possible guy, then go for it.

I'm guessing you were a fan of hiring Hal Hunter after Dinardo got run?

Because the situations are exactly the same. Right.

I just dont think beating a depleted 6-6 MSU team is a real good indicator of what kind of coach he will be. I would certainly look at ALL options at this point.

I would prefer Kevin Sumlin or June Jones if either was at all possible but I would be happy with the Ruffin hire as well

Exactly. I feel like while TTU might not be a premiere job, it's an attractive enough school with a strong recruiting base that you might be able to get a decent "name" coach.

Heck, Tuberville might even have some interest.

Tuberville has said he wants the job and I don't want him here. He'll stay for a few years and use tech as a platform for somewhere else IMO

He called a great game and you can tell the players love the guy...but they barely beat an awful suckass 6-6 Sparty team with a ton of their players suspended.... Oh yeah and it was a home game too. Not that impressive IMO

Texas Tech's power that be want/wanted Art Briles. Unfortunately Tech is low on money as is and combined with the possibility of paying Leach his full contract, Tech will have to be VERY careful about hiring someone who demands a lot of money for a contract. Big time donors have already claimed to be shutting off their donations as a result of this Leach dispute. They will not be able to afford Briles' buyout and will have a problem paying Sumlin, Jones or Tubs the money they might demand. Ruffin McNeill is a guy they can hire for a little cheaper and he can keep their recruiting class together. I'd look for him to be the guy.
