I have heard Miles criticized for winning a national championship with sabans recruits. I have never heard meyer criticized for winning with zook's recruits or saban criticized for winning with shula's recruits. Why do some coaches get dumped on while others are left alone?

Meyers first NC was looked at with suspicion, especially in light of losing 5 games the following season.

You really don't remember people saying Meyer won with Zook's recruits?

Dude, people almost unanimously said that he'd won with Zooks recruits especially since they won that year based on their defense.

Meyer isn't getting issues because he won the title AGAIN in his 4th year with almost all his recruits, and then nearly got to the NC in his 5th year.

Big difference from LSU which continues to perform WORSE as Les' recruits take over compared to the previous teams in his tenure at LSU.

Saban always won with other coaches recruits. Never stuck around to be with his own recruits.

This is a stupid statement and how can you prove it? Miles won a NC in his 3rd year, not 2nd like Meyer and Saban could win one in his 3rd year we will see. Saban went 9-3 in his 5th season and if anyone remembers that team didn't look pretty doing anything that year. They almost and should have lost to Troy that year. UGA smoked us and then the debacle in the Cap One against Iowa. There are cycles with programs and it usually hinges around the QB. We are cycling into better QB territory with Jefferson having another year under his belt and the emergance of Garrett.

WHen you take over a Top 5 program coming off a recent BCSNC, the expectations are higher than taking over a mediocre program.

it's probably the most ridiculous phrase in sports. Without McElroy, Arenas and McClain, Bama isn't in the BCSCG.

I think only two of the three were recruited by Saban, right?

Could this lame arse subject be discussed a few more times around here please? The other 12,475 times weren't enough.

Its 3 yrs in at Bama, so it's a combo of recruits and Nicks team.

The same as it was for Miles in 07.

It's a mystery to me why some make a deal over such a thing, but then a lot of stuff that happens on forums are a mystery to me.
