As a diehard Steelers fan and LSU fan, I am going to have a heart attack with the head coaches' decision making in the "back end" of games.
Tomlin is lucky that the Steelers were able to pull the game out today. Just as Mack Brown was lucky that time didn't run out on him. Miles wasn't so lucky at Ole Miss.
I can fully understand Tomlin's thinking. He has witnessed the Steelers defense collapse in 4th quarters all season. The Steelers have lost 5 times this season after leading in the 4th quarter. Green Bay had already scored 14 points in the quarter, and Tomlin took a gamble to try to keep the ball away from Green Bay.
But how much of a gamble was it really? If the ball would have gone a little farther, the Steelers would have recovered as planned. It didn't, and Green Bay got the ball around the steelers forty and quickly scored. Too quickly.
The short field allowed Greey Bay to score quickly and give a hot Big Ben two full minutes to work his magic. If Pittsburgh would have kicked the ball deep, Green Bay would have still likley scored and left no time for a Big Ben comeback.
At the end of the day, Tomlin was lucky, and Miles...not so much.

When I saw them kick the onside kick, I said "Damn, I didn't know Les went to Pittsburgh to coach!!"
