DIII and above should just be renamed to the Ohio Catholic Association State Playoffs

DI isn't too bad because most of them get lumped into the same division..

Yeah. I mean, D-I still has its fair share of dominant Catholic schools with the Cincy schools and schools like St. Iggy and St Ed's in Cleveland, but it's still pretty competitive all around, and they don't run away with it all the time. This year, 3 of the 4 semifinalists and both state finalists in D-I were public schools.

The lower divisions, though, yeah, because the public schools they're competing against just don't have enough kids to overcome the recruiting.

Even in D-I, though, a lot of the really good public schools "recruit" or at least the program naturally recruits for itself. For example, at Coffman, a lot of my teammates (probably around 10, which is a pretty large #, if you think about it) moved into the district or open-enrolled from one of the other two Dublin High Schools just to play football here, cause they see guys like Brady Quinn, Chinedum Ndukwe, Mike Adams, Jake Stoneburner, etc come out of our program and know our coach does a really good job of helping guys in the recruiting process for college.

Also, I'm almost sure the majority of the guys that play for Ted Ginn at Glenville didn't originally live (or still don't... they open-enrolled) in the Glenville district of Cleveland. He either recruited them, or once again the program/reputation recruited for itself.

Just the way it is.

I've read all these posts and lets face it. Tommy Henry and the LHSAA created this problem and did nothing to stop it, now we have what we have, these schools rape areas of their best players. Don't forget the parents have to approve of them going and they live in the community, I wonder what people in the community think? I'm sure the parents are thinking my son will be an NFL player one day and should go to this football factory to get the best.
As far as those factories winning state championships the dome looked pretty empty for the game last night between evangel and JC. Obviously no one cared, I for one didn't care about either team or their records, there tainted as far as I'm concerned, no respect for them!
Give me public school school games anyday, town vs town, good hometown spirit, places that are rich in history, kids that have been together their whole lives and are playing for their communities and the community knows them and loves them and follows them in droves when they are out of town. Thats high school sports!!! frankly speaking, i don't care if my high school wins a state championship or not, I will be out there every week cheering them on and so will our community, I'll say one last thing, our small rural school has had more NFL players than JC and evangel over the years. Have a great day!!!
