At 9-3, I would say they were a medicore team at best when he inherited them.

We were 9-3 in 2004.

Which is better:
2-loss regular season with bowl loss on last second play with lame duck coach, one year after a 13-1 national championship year

or

3-loss regular season after a 5-loss season

Realize also that 2004 was an 11-game regular season. Add Tulane to that schedule (to make it comparable to now) and it was a 10-win regular season.

If 04 was mediocre, 09 is definitely mediocre.

If you really believe this, nothing I, or anybody else, can say will make a difference.

Come on, man. We weren't a mediocre program...look at the recruiting class that year. It was Saban's best to date. We were coming off an SECC and an NC the year before. We had an unproven QB under center, lost a lot of kids to the draft, but we were rolling...'05, '06, and and '07 were gonna be THE years.

And the head of the program was running the ship right. Let me reiterate: DANDY DON THOUGHT THAT THE OLE MISS DEBACLE HURT RECRUITING. I can't remember the last time that the Dandy One accused anything/anybody of being bad for recruiting since the Dinardo years. The tide has turned (some, like myself, saw it turn in early 2005)...slowly but surely, in the next few years, the recruits and their parents are going elsewhere because they see the product they have in Miles.
