You sure know how to frick up a person's killstreak! There were quite a few times last night where I was wondering just where the hell you came from!!
As far as not dying a lot, I would just try to check the corners as much as possible. I don't know how to relay actual military tactics towards a video game. Sometimes a guy just has your number
