No... Sec championship and top 5 finish i believe he is capable of. Especially since I believe the east has two more yrs before they have a really good team in either tenn or UF. Nothing I have seen from his coaching has me to believe we can sustain a full season of great play. I think we could have beat UF in 06 the way were playing later in the year, but the two frick ups in the season cost us a trip to Atl. Some fluke shite would have to happen for a repeat 07. Depending on how the bowls turn out i might be saying we could have beat UT this year.

Agree, as I've stated before, I don't want someone who is simply better than Miles. I want someone who has the ability to keep LSU at the top. If that coach can't be had this year, Miles is the best option for next.
Totally with you. No need to change unless you have a "slam dunk" Les deserves more time. He will make or break on his own.
Not saying I am overwhelmingly impressed, I am not but don't feel its in the best interest to fire Miles. Hope he is the man long term.

It would take a VERY great coach to do this in 3-5 years from where we are now, but it can be done. I don't think Miles is of the caliber to do so, but there aren't many who are - that would be willing to come to LSU, that is.
That said, I think Gary Patterson IS of the caliber to do it, and maintain that elite status as well.

I figure next year will be a make it/break it season for Miles. Its all his, had time to correct horrible hires and asst. coaches, get his people in the right positions. If he doesn't make it, he is a victim of his (and Sabans) own success.
Its all on him. I have my doubts, but hope for the best. I do like Patterson, and impressed more with him than Kelly.

I think so, but he has to hire good assistants. He was great up until 08, when he lost Pelini and kept Mallveto. He needs to get rid of Stud and Crowton and hire a proven guy, like he did with Chavis last year. If he does this, we will be much better next year, but I said the same this year, so who knows.

Why do U think we are on the decline?
9-3, but for all practical purposes should be 10-2.....but got it, record book says 9-3.
Do u consider wins or the way we won?
It's the flip side of the coin....we could have lost sever more ges but we didn't....we found ways to win. We produced the drive when we needed it and found the D when
we needed it.
We have a better record from
last year....
We have lost 8 conference games in the last 2 years....4 times to the #1 or #2 ranked team on the nation, with last years FL game being the only blowout.
Have U stepped back and examined the major behind the scene changes this team has gone through and that LM managed----without hearing any dissention from rhe team.
The players like him and they respect him because they know he is loyal to them (to a fault according to some) and that he is here for them not to use the to stroke his own ego.

Seems to me we have some really good players coming up that will bring us back to more of dominant team in the near future.

Yes and that's why some give the 08-09 SEC combined (8-8) rather than the current 09 record of 5-3. Kinda hard to push a "decline" agenda otherwise.
Only on a sports forum can you go from 7-5, 3-5, and unranked in one year to 9-3,5-3, and 13th ranked in the next year and come up with "decline".

If I was AD and looking to replaced Miles my question would be who out there can beat Saban and Meyer on a consistent basis. In their prime, Bowden and Paterno didn't have to fact the line up of coaches Lester or any coach at LSU has to face year in and year out. Just saying, no-one knows how Carroll, Stoops, Brown etc. would do when faced with the same odds. That's what would worry me about finding the "right guy."

Les can and I believe will get the job done. As long as he is recruiting in the top 10 we should have a shot at another national title. We definitely need to address the offense and I believe he will. PS If LSU has all that elite talent then why did we only place one player on the 1st team and 3 on the 2nd team All-SEC?
Posted on 12/8/09 at 10:09 pm to Billy Ray Valentine
Les Miles is not the guy to accomplish what you outline.
Posted on 12/9/09 at 7:28 am to TigerWoodlands
Why only 1 guy all SEC???? You know we have talent, so what could be the problem? Whos job is it to help these kids reach there potential? You answer??????

really not a valid point, but I get at what you're saying. The SEC had some freak players this year with guys like Tebow, Ingram, McClain, Norwood, AJ Green, Berry, etc.

The main problem is that Miles is not as good as Saban or Meyer.
Bama and Florida will be consistenly better if all 3 stay in their positions.
Get a new coach that can beat them or hope that Saban/Meyer leave their schools.

Please name the schools that are in the Top 5 year after year. There aren't any.
